1 Day...

Hollywood is getting ready. I usually throw a big bash but this year, I'll be live blogging right here. Just for a little change of pace...

What are your plans for Hollywood's High Holy Night?

i'll be at home unable to see the beginning because the TV channel that airs it in brasil will only start airing after the big brother brasil!! i'll probably miss best sup actor and one or a couple of tech categories; i hope they're the only. u.u

but i'll be doing a live chat with some of my friends, we'll be looking at picture, reports et al dissing everything and everyone. i'm somehow very excited.

I honestly have no idea outside of just watching them. [shrugs]

My plans are watching them at home, clinging to my sofa cushions, praying that it is not a complete disaster like I am sensing. Either way, at this point, who isn't just happy it's on.

Rob From Leeds, England

Sadly in the UK Sky TV have stolen the rights, which I don't have. I can get highlights on a spin off freeview channel almost a week later. So I'll be up and relying on guys and gals at awardsdaily.com to keep me entertained and of course live blogging. A friend in London is taping it for me which is the main thing. I've got the last decades on video.

I started on my party food. If I'm staying up I might as well enjoy myself. My "Blood Orange" Jelly (There Will Be Blood) is chilling in the Fridge.....

so...im an oscar nut. so i dont spend all day thinking / obsessing about them & counting the hours, im going to the gym, then going in to work to do everything i can't get done during the regular work week. Go home at 4....get cleaned up. Then at 6Pm, i turn on E with juliana & ryan - both of whom are just so horribly wonderful with the other guy from top model. then about 2.5 hours into the oscars - I always say to myself - "why do i like this so much - it's really boring"....of course i record the whole thing. MARCEL!!!! oh, for some reason, I'm going to be so disappointed if she wins.

As usual, I'm going to be in front of the TV for an obscene amount of time. I can't stand Oscar parties or events of any kind--it's distracting lol. Enjoy the best day of the year tomorrow!

A bunch of us getting together and bringing Oscar-themed food/dessert. I'm bringing Junoreos :) Should be fun, but I'm hesitant watching Oscars with a group of people. They talk a lot during the telecast.

sadly... waking up first thing Monday morning to see the results online. damn 7 hour time difference, damn studying abroad!

I'm having a costume party. You have to be a 2007 film character. I'm going to be Viggo from EP... black boxer briefs, and a magic marker for friends to draw on me as my "tattoos." I figure interactive = fun ?

Amy Ryan looks so beautiful on the picture you posted of her.

I'll be at home watching the Oscars. I usually watch the Academy Awards alone and I am totally anxious for the show. I think it is going to be a great Oscars.

Nothing glamorous for me this year: probably just sitting in front of the t.v., in my pajamas.

I don't much like parties anyway; they're loud, and someone always feels the need to talk obnoxiously over the speeches (a big no-no in my book.)

I'll be watching at a party with my film school friends. Er... classmates. I wouldn't call all of them my friends. But some are. Unfortunately, some also have really shitty taste, and will be pissed if, like, critical faves win things. But it'll be fun to finally watch at a group event with (semi)like-minded people.

i'll be live blogging for any of you staying at home people who need to discuss during the breaks.

i love the wide variety of ways people celebrate. I've only ever missed the Oscars once since March 1983 (I was like WHAT IS ALL THIS GLITTER AND FABULOUSNESS I SEE BEFORE ME. MAY IT NEVER END!!! --i think my parents were alarmed and how suddenly and utterly I was obsessed) ...and if you can believe it it was the year Michelle was up for FABULOUS BAKER BOYS. i suppose that's a blessing since I didn't have to see her lose. But I was out of the country...

derek that is the best interactive costume idea I think I've ever heard for Oscar! SEND PICTURES --ha ha.

i don't usually do the costume thing but we did it at our party for 2004 and we got lot of Rays (easy costume) but the boyfriend STILL has the bright orange hoodie he bought to be Kate Winslet in Eternal Sunshine --thankfully the blue hair was a one night deal ;)

I'm gonna sit with all my friends and impress them with how much they don't know. Also its raining in LA so its gonna be a wet red carpet!

And wet celebs are the best...Also the Spirit Awards are today, which I voted for, (Diving Bell for Pic and Dir, Cheadle Actor, Page Actress, Jason Leigh Sup. Actress, Zahn Supporting Actor, Juno and Diving Bell for Screenplays...)

The Oscars come at the worst possible time for me this year. I'm in the middle of exams all through the week and if I stayed up to follow them, I'd only get maybe 2 hours rest before my 9am Maths exam the next morning. I say 'follow' because we don't have the channel that'll broadcast them live, but if I could I'd be following them right here. Sadly, I'll have to content myself with hearing the results on the radio on Monday morning, taping the Highlights show and watching it at a later date.

You know what Atonement should win the best picture gold but No Country seems to be the front runner. I just did like that movie... yes I didn't. The Milkshake dude will win the best actor award and Away from Her lady will win the best actress award.
No American Actor will win an Oscar this year... three Brits and one from Spain.

Goin out early to the pub tomorrow for darts and a quiz. Then back home with wine and a take-away while I watch the red carpet, and popcorn/cookies to go with the ceremony. Heavenly.

All that's needed is an Atonement victory and/or Tilda Swinton win to top the night off.

This is a formal request: please change that pic of Ruby Dee on the Awards link button on your main site's index page. It's been freaking me out for weeks.

Defending my 2 year predictions champ status at the black tie Oscar Night America party hosted by the Hawaiian International Film Festival. 5 star hotel, 6 course sit down dinner, silent auction, live screening (its delayed in Hawaii, so every else gets it later) and minor celebs, (last year I hung out with David Chokachi and Shang Tsung from Mortal Kombat.) SOO excited!

I still don't know what I'm gonna wear tomorrow. In 2005 the back thing worked, a few years before I was in pink, I won my first Oscar in a golden dress.. uh was it golden ? I can't say, it looks different on the pic that Kevin Spacey took for me.. God I was so skinny..
What should I wear ?

Like Rob in Leeds, I am a deprived Brit.

I'm also the proud owner of a school age child, but I'll be up watching the live blogging until it's lunchbox construction time. That's real devotion.

I watch them, but there's about 8 hours between the show airing in America to them starting down here so I have to feverishly try to avoid spoilers. I'm gonna go to the gym, maybe watch some DVDs that'll arrive in the mail and then I'm going to get some chinese food, go to a friend's place and just chill out with my besties.

I'm going to be taping it on my DVR so I can come home and then rewatch the best moments, burn it onto a CD and keep it forever (something I started last year).
