TONIGHT!

So many questions to be answered. Like...
  • How very wrong will my predictions be?
  • Will Cate Blanchett still win best-dressed even while very preggers?
  • How long will the show run? (I'm guessing very --they planned for a no stars show so they're going to have a lot of extra material... even if they claim they've abandoned it)
  • Will the red carpet catch fire when Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz walk it together?
  • Which presenter will be god-awful at their job?
  • How will Sally Kirkland ever top this...

Will she even try?

I generally tend to find the "best dressed" is someone left of centre. Not the Angelina Jolies or the Julia Roberts' or so on. Although the last two years' best dressed for me have been Gwyneth Paltrow ('07) and Keira Knightley ('06) so maybe the "movie star" theme will continue.

I'm randomly picking Amy Ryan to be best dressed. In the past people like Shohreh Aghdashloo and Marcia Gay Harden have been my best dressed so that bodes well!

Poor Sally. What happened there ? Sally was oh so good in 'Anna' . Poor Sally.

I'm aching to see what Julie Christie will be wearing. I loved the dress she wore when she was nominated for 'Afterglow'. I'm excited.

After seeing Tilda at the BAFTAs I cannot wait to see what she wears. Oh this is too good!!!

sally was indeed excellent in ANNA. I'd love to get her for the podcast... such a wild thing.

Kirkland would do your podcast in a heartbeat. Check out her website ; her phone number is listed. The girl loves a little press.

why has there been no honorary award in the last couple of years for some old geezer they never gave an oscar to? last time i think was kurt douglas? when do travolta & glen close reach geezer-status? i read they'd give an honorary oscar to doris day, but she refuses to attend.

Nathaniel, why still no predix in the Doc & Short categories? They are the bread-and-butter of these Oscar prediction categories!

I wonder if Angela Lansbury is big enough for the Academy to honor. Isn't she 84 this year?

actually angela lansbury would be a great choice....2 nominations.....she probably should have beaten patty duke for supporting actress in manchurian candidate....she's done it all....drama / light comedy / music / animation. next year!....she's a perfect choice.

I believe Angie turned 86 this year, js.

My prediction is that Tilda Swinton will win the "most outrageous, show-stopping" prize tonight. That dress she wore at the BAFTAs is unforgettable.

That should actually read Tilda Swinton will win the "most outrageous, show-stopping outfit" prize tonight.

I love Sally Kirkland! What a weird, transcendant, crazy wtf character! She really blends well with all the blandness of such a starry night. I hope she arrives in something truly outrageous. I mean, who else will?

As for best dressed, I know it's stupid, but Helen Mirren is probably taking the price for the second year running. If not, then Marion Cotillard.
