Oscar Reminds Us

Four things I forgot about until Oscar reminded me
  1. 1. The great Sarah Polley would be @ the Kodak theater. More camera time please.
    2. Casey Affleck is Joaquin Phoenix's brother-in-law. And Summer Phoenix is deliciously busty. Like Madonna @ Golden Globes for Evita busty. A very good thing
  2. 3. Hal Holbrook is married to Julia Sugarbaker.
  3. 4. Josh Lucas = ohmygod

This doesn't have anything to do with the post but I can't believe Vanity Fair mentioned you. You've got to be pretty happy about that, right?

Summer just had a baby, that's why she's busty.

So, just a little family get together, a little bit of Thanksgiving or whatever, can have two Phoenixes, two Afflecks, Jennifer Garner, probably Matt Damon, and then, y'know, maybe Gwyneth stops by because they're still good friends?

That's more star power than the Oscars!

it's so true. it's like a two family Hollywood dynasty waiting to happen

the jack yes it's always nice to get good reviews :) I've had my share of bad ones, too so you win some you lose some.

i will be featured in The Advocate in march too, so slowly but surely i shall conquer the world. [EVIL LAUGH HERE] I'll be 92 when it happens but still...

Well I'm just finding out that Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova are a couple, so you learn something new every day.

That Jennifer Garner picture is really wonderful. A+ to that photographer.

I didn't realize until today (and I appologize if someone already said this) but Javier and Marion will both be in the musical Nine. I did enjoy that thought

Speaking of Marketa Irglova, I learned she turns 20 this Thursday. This makes her a full year younger than Ellen Page, who turned 21 last Thursday.

That's a whole lot of ridiculously young.

Re: Javier and Marion in "Nine." She doesn't sing, she have to lip synch.

NATHANIEL R said...

well she sang backstage at the oscars --admittedly it was like "humming/singing" the piaf "BA DUM BA DUM BA DUM" but her voice sounded at least as good as Depp's or Bonham-Carters ;)

so she can probably handle NINE if not Sondheim

I have a Logic professor who looks - and dresses - like Josh Lucas. So, I agree: ohmyGOD.

Hansard and Irglova were friends—he's known her since she was 12 through her parents—and he suggested her for the role. They became a couple only as the filming ended.

I think that's killer sweet.

"Ba dum"? Isn't it Padam?

NATHANIEL R said...

i dunno i don't speak french and i was half asleep when she was singing it on all the radio recaps.

Nat it was really nice of U to post Sarah Polley's pic up. She got basically zero coverage on E! (IDIOTS),

I just saw her very briefly, she looks really cute.

I totally just got the Stephen Frears connection between Helen Mirren and DDL, as she was presenting the golden guy to him... trippy. :p

I thought that Marketa Irglova was at least 30. That's crazy that she's not even 21. That just makes her performance that much more impressive. Maybe the daughter thing threw me off.

Nat, she goes by "Academy Award-Nominee Sarah Polley" these days. GEEZ! Get it right!

NATHANIEL R said...

the picture of Sarah Poll ---excuse me, ACADEMY AWARD NOMINEE SARAH POLLEY was really hard to find so I'm glad y'all enjoyed.

Hi all,

Great to find some like minded people re the amazing Sarah Polley, who got far too little coverage - and was anyone else upset when she wasn't shown in the auditorium when the screenplay Oscar was being announced? I nearly went straight to bed (I'm in the UK and it was nearly 3am) but stuck it out for Best Actress. Am I allowed to advertise another site? There are 10 pics of Sarah on the red carpet in the gallery at sarahpolley.org - have a look, she's gorgeous!

Has anyone seen Sarah Polley in Slings and Arrows? She keeps such a low profile but is consistently good. Maybe she'll write another film for Julie.

Nine, BTW, is a very difficult score to sing. I love the musical but it's very artsy. I don't know who will go see this movie. But I never thought they'd turn Sweeney Todd into a big Hollywood film, so why not Nine?

Mary Stuart Masterson was wonderful on stage in the recent Broadway revival of Nine. What ever happened to her?

I've seen Slings - Sarah is superb (and both completely heartbreaking and really funny at times) and the show itself is fabulous - strongly recommended to everyone. I remember Mary Stuart Masterson in Some Kind Of Wonderful 20 years ago! She was a terrific actress - but I can't remember anything she's been in movie wise for years - was Fried Green Tomatoes the last thing? That was her, wasn't it? That must be 10 years ago.

i dunno. i think put enough stars in the cast (which they're doing) and NINE could have appeal at the multiplex.

it is certainly self conciously artsy though, yes. I mean basing it on 8 1/2 to begin with...

perhaps i shoud do a post on this movie
