I kind of like your blog (get it? you said say something kind, I said I kind of like your blog. see, it was a joke ...)

Actually, I do like your blog (and Kate Winslet, too).

I love this movie, and I particularly love her in this movie. Am I one of the few people who clearly think Campion can do no wrong.

I adore 'Holy Smoke'.
Simply adore it.
One of the only films the boyfriend and I have ever had a long, in-depth discussion over (critical analysis of film isn't his bag) which adds to the affection I have towards this piece.

Campion needs to come out with something new, very soon. I've not seen 'In The Cut', but surely the supposed stench it reeked must've dissipated a bit by now, no?

Beau, I've never subscribed to the theory that Into the Cut is unexcusable tripe. I actually quite liked it. Although that may have more to do with Dion Beebe's brilliant cinematography.

I wasn't sure where to put this news, but it seemed to fit in this recent topic moreso than other recent topics. (Although I guess it could have fit in with your post about Roy Scheider, because of Jaws and all.)

It's a political and it involves Steven Spielbeg, who I know you're not a big fan of. I think it's wonderful news that he's boycotting what was supposed to be his role with the Olympic games in China, (finally!) because of their ties to Sudan. I'm very happy to see that Mia Farrow speaking out actually worked.

Really? See, any word that'd ever come my way regarding 'In the Cut' was from other people telling me to stay away at all costs. Interesting.

OOH. Jennifer Jason Leigh?
I'm there.

it also made Nick's top ten list that year... so, i wouldn't trust the "stay away at all costs" thing

it's merely your garden variety ambitious project that people decided to hate with a passion... like, hmmm, Birth. Only not that good. imho it is a failure but it's definitely worth seeing
