Nothing to watch... in theaters. Only, World Cup.

Saw The Karate Kid (Smithified version) at midnight Thursday/Friday and surprisingly enjoyed it, despite its flaws. If I have the time, I *might* check out The A-Team.

At the moment, I'm watching Blue Sky on Netflix Instant. Loving Jessica Lange's performance in it so far.

A marathon of movie-going. Saw Splice (hated it) and The A-Team (loved it) already. Next up: The Karate Kid and Harry Brown!

I'm attempting to see more movies. In avery bizarre, haphazard way. So I have Be Kind Rewind, White Oleander, Cape Fear and The Savages out.

Doing a big movie screening project this summer and the weekends are when I do my heavy lifting. I'm watching "Taxi Driver," "Raging Bull," "Gone with the Wind," "Casablanca" and "12 Angry Men," all for the first time.

All movie-watching plans for this weekend revolve around DVD's. I may finally get around to watching Julie Taymor's Titus, but something tells me I'll probably just end up watching something totally different. I've been planning on a musical marathon of Cabaret, Moulin Rouge!, Chicago, All That Jazz, and Nine for some time now and for no particular reason. But once again, that'll probably end up not happening (I switch "movie-moods" like every minute)! So the only thing that I know I'll definitely be watching this weekend is Shutter Island, which I loved when I saw it in theaters btw. I saw Splice last weekend and reveled in the messy/bizarre glory of it all.

Long weekend in Australia, but I'm going to have a Project Runway marathon when I visit my mother's place. I did rent some horror movies from the store so I'll give them a whirl in the DVD player.

DVD this week, Toy Story 3 next week. Since this upcoming week is going to be stressful until Friday, I'm watching it to celebrate!

@ANTHONYMAI -- nah, you should go. See The Bening. She's really fantastic in it.

@THEKNOWNOTHING -- wow. that's a lot of great movies for first times.

@JESOPOER -- congratulations. was this a festival bow?

Netflix has sent us...
- "35 Up", which is a part of the Up documentary series that we're completely enthralled with.

- Blade Runner, which my better half has never seen, so thus we nabbed it.

and

- The Mist, which I've always wanted to see, but never got the time.

Les Amours Imaginaires! And maybe Mother, if I get the chance.

Nothing to watch. I'll divide my time between the World Cup and my work.

Just watched Bresson's magnificent AU HASARD BALTHAZAR, and tomorrow it'll be either something by Woody Allen or Clint Eastwood.

Might see The A-Team on Sunday with friends, but other than that probably nothing. I'm just disappointed that "Winter's Bone" didn't open where I live. I saw it marked down as having a "limited release" opening, but it wasn't listed strictly as NYC/LA, but apparently that's where it opened. You'd think that one of these days other big cities (Chicago, Houston, Dallas, etc...) would start getting the limited releases at the same time as NYC/LA, but it's still rare. Houston (my home) will probably have to wait close to an extra month to see I am Love. *sad*

Yeah, I'm all about the World Cup too. It's going to take some real good movies for me to venture out this month. The Kids Are All Right?

Team USA!
.
.
.
but really Team Haiti. :-(

I might check out the Spanish doc 'Garbo: The Spy' tomorrow at Seattle Film Festival; if I feel like staying in, I'll watch 'La Dolce Vita.'

Watched Joe Kidd, an early 70s (but post-Dirty Harry) Clint Eastwood western, co-starring Robert Duvall. Not a great movie but a fun little curio.

Probably will watch The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus or The Bird with the Crystal Plumage tonight.

Tomorrow night is all about True Blood, Treme, and the season finale of Breaking Bad.

Nothing to see in the theatres (for most of the summer, it looks like). So I'm watching tv on DVD, the first season of "Royal Pains". A fired NYC emergency doctor is taken to the Hamptons by his brother, and becomes an on-call doctor making house calls to the rich.

It's a fun enough summer series, and Mark Feuerstein is (almost) charming enough to carry a lead. The casting directors who think his brother is endearing, though, are wrong. Paolo Constanzo's faux-naif schtick might have worked when he was a teenager but now he appears shallow, lacking in technique, and irritating.

It reminds me a bit of Dirty Sexy Money, but that had much better writing and a way better cast (Donald Sutherland, Peter Krause).

Went to see The A-Team. Brainless, by-the-numbers production, but it had some good humor in it. It captured the spirit of the show.

Nothing just watching movies online on my favorite movie site. 10starmovies.com.
