I have to see say it. Everybody, please don't hate me.
I like her as a person and I thought I liked her as an actress but after watching Avatar and Alien1+2 (yes, I got late at the party) I think I don't get her.
Nevertheless I have a feeling I will like her more in this film.
Oh, how I adore Sigourney Weaver. I love her in almost everything (and she can do everything: comedy, drama, romance, etc). But never do I love her more than when she's spoofing her own image, like in Galaxy Quest.
"Look! I have one job on this lousy ship, it's stupid, but I'm gonna do it! Okay? "
"Let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy."
"What is this thing? I mean, it serves no useful purpose for there to be a bunch of chompy, crushy things in the middle of a hallway. No, I mean we shouldn't have to do this, it makes no logical sense, why is it here?.... Well forget it! I'm not doing it! This episode was badly written!"
and my personal favorite: "Ducts? Why is it always ducts?"
Sigourney Weaver's BAFTA win is one of those individual awards that permanently cements my love for an entire organization. If you asked me, "why do you love BAFTA?" I'd immediately point to this performance.
Yes! I love this series and I was waiting for this one.
Weaver was snubbed so royally, she should've had her nimble fingers wrapped around that Oscar. And that's from someone who actually loves Basinger in L.A. Confidential.
Would like to see Ice Storm again - be interesting to see if it's as fun as the first time.
Sigourney is such an unlikely screen actress, yet she carries it off perfectly with that trademark intensity, cold exterior/warm interior and intelligence.
many people considered her work in THE ICE STORM oscarworthy (or at least nomination's)...imho she could have won for ALIENS in 1987 and as best supporting actress in 1989 for WORKING GIRL
I hope the Academy could consider her again soon...

um.... if Aliens didn't convince you (her best), I'm not sure what will.

Her comedic work in Dave (1993) and Tadpole (2002)
Her dramatic work in Death and the Maiden (1994) and A Map of the World (1999)
Sigourney Weaver – underrated, under appreciated, under used, under valued. Oscar-less!

Oh, come on Nathaniel. You know these things are subjective. Nick Davis didn't give his award to Meryl for Sophie's Choice but for Silkwood.
I just couldn't connect to the Alien characters. So they were themselves kind of alien to me :p
Weaver at her bitchiest? Working Girl.
I love series!

i am kind of disliking the film. But considering the weak weird category Best Supp. Actress 97 was, she could've sneaked in.

Her character may have been a bitch in this movie (a very sexy bitch), but in this scene? She was so, so right.
THE ONLY 1997 BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS!!!!!
sorry julianne you can have silver.
Love that line! I've been in that situation so many times...
If you don't get Sigourney (especially in Aliens) then you don't get mindblowingly brilliant acting.
Erik -- absolutely. He just keeps yammering on. ShutUpKline!
Peggy Sue -- !!!!??!!
I finally saw this movie about a month ago - had NO idea that most of it is a comedy of manners, I was expecting something really, really dark.
Ok, it IS dark at the end, but along the way it's one of the best dramatic comedies I've ever seen.
Toby Maquire's character seemed absolutely unnecessary though, he could have been removed with no harm to the main storylines whatsoever.
And oh, that scene - I'd read about it, Sigourney's delivery was as good as I'd heard. Wow.
