What was the last movie...

...you saw with your best friend? (Do you go together often or are you the sole movie freak in the relationship?)

Inception, I think (I saw it 3 times in theaters). I'm the movie geek. Or 'freak' are you called it.

The Kids Are All Right, and out of all my friends I'm the only true movie freak.

It's not a movie but I recently watched the first give episodes of Glee with my best friend. I can't remember the last time we watched a movie together,

We had plans to go see The Kids Are All Right, but we missed it, so we went home and watched the series premiere of The Big C and season premiere of Weeds. Then I thought of what Laura Linney and Mary-Louise Parker would be like as the couple in The Kids Are All Right...but I digress.

I think the last movie we must've seen together in theaters then was probably A Single Man, though we rented the 1999 Michelle Pfeiffer, Stanley Tucci, Kevin Kline version of A Midsummer Night's Dream the other day, which was enjoyable enough.

We're both movie buffs, but I'm definitely the freakier of our little pair.

i watched animal kingdom.
i'm really the only truly movie freak, he's the one who just "loves" movies, but not a freak yet.

Don't even remind me! When it comes to movies, I detest my friends! They just do it all wrong!

My best friend and I live in different states now, so the last movie saw together was from a few years ago: Winter Passing. We each knew nothing about it other than that Zooey Deschanel was in it, and that was enough. We're both movie freaks, so we (used to) see pretty much anything. I think all we really did in college was go see indie/foreign films playing in Berkeley/SF.

My best friend has been gone for a month but the last film we saw was "Salt," unfortunately. But we have another friend who is just as obsessed as I am with movies.

emmanuel ramos barajas said...

We're both equally crazy about movies, we just like different types of movies; I'm more likely to watch foreign, indies, older films. She watches some from 50-70's but definitely a lot of stuff from the 70's onward(especially Scorsese, she's obsessed with with.)

The last film we watched was Io sono l'amore with Tilda Swinton (for $2, by the way)

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World

Going All the Way. A campy 90's film with Ben Affleck, Rachel Weisz, Rose McGowan, Lesley Ann Warren and the talented yet forgotten Jeremy Davies in the lead. The casting director has got to be a homosexual for casting Rachel, Rose, and Lesley (and Ben for that matter!) in this film.

Unfortunately the BFF lives in another state, but when we're together I drag her to just about any and every movie I want to see.

I believe Prince of Persia was the last movie she and I saw together. The good thing about the BFF not being a movie freak like me is that she doesn't care if a movie will be good or not - she had no qualms about the fact that we were seeing the movie for the sole purpose of looking at Jake.

I saw "The General" with my friend a couple months ago. Before that it was "Z" by Costa-Gavras.

I'm definitely the movie freak in the relationship.

The last movie I saw with my best friend was Avatar over the winter break...it's kind of difficult, us living in different cities and all. Our tastes usually align. Not casual moviegoers at all...my best friend sends the best cross country texts re: reactions to films.

Robert said...

"Scott Pilgrim VS The World"! It was the perfect movie for us both since we're huge video game geeks. I think being with my BFF made the movie-watching experience that much better.

However, I don't get to see her that often and nobody but her wants to go see the stuff I do so I'm primarily a lone movie hound. Haha.

a triple feature, the EDGE OF HEAVEN / SOUL KITCHEN / GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO

i'm the movie freak, but she gives me sometimes a run for my money

Alice in Wonderland. We haven't talked much since, either. Coincidence? I sure hope so. Otherwise, I'll have no one to go to the midnight Harry Potter premiere with in my Pro-Umbridge t-shirt. That would just be silly to wear on my own.

i saw Eat Pray Love with my best friend the day before she left for college. it was the last time i saw her (for now). we were both in a sorry state so it probably made us think the movie was a lot better and more profound than it actually is.

Saw Scott Pilgrim vs. the World opening weekend. We both saw Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead during opening weekend also.

We watch movies together often enough. There was a period post-college though when she went off to grad school and we couldn't. We're both pretty movie-obsessed. She's a film school graduate after all.

Daniel Armour said...

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. We both like movies a lot but most of the time, I go to the movies by myself (Well, yesterday I saw The Expendables with a couple of my film school friends but it's only the second time I've done that).

We went to go see Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World together opening weekend . She tries her best to be a moviefreak, which I appreciate!

Michael said...

And, if I can pull the very 4th-grade but still legit. "2 best friends" thing, then the last movie I dragged my other best friend to was "Nine." She kind of hated it, minus Marion who she now loves.

Inception or Toy Story 3...

Not sure which came first, but we saw both. We are equal parts movie geek.

Anonymous said...

Inception. He's not a movie freak like me but we go to the movies quite often.

illnaa said...

inception - i'm kind of a closet movie geek

Jake D said...

I saw Dinner for Schmucks with my primary best friend coupling. We all knew that was a mistake going in, though.

Before that, it was three helpings of Toy Story 3. It wasn't quite as good once we started quoting along with the movie...

Inception... with my hetero life partner.

i've seen inception 4 times in a row over its opening weekend. the last movie i saw with my friend was Eat Pray Love (with his mother, it his mother's request and we're 20ish guys)

Scott Pilgrim, I think, but it's a rare occurrence. We always want to see different movies.

NATHANIEL R said...

James T -- i know the feeling. My two best friends. One of them is always too busy at the screening time and the other has decided that it's a badge of honors NOT to go to the movies and only see live theater. argh.

moror -- where are earth are they showing I AM LOVE for $2. i'll go a third time!

mikeips -- i don't think i could see anymovie four times in one weekend.

Stonez said...

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. I am the movie freak in the relationship (only movie freak outta all my friends actually). Funny thing is, he's the one that works at a movie theater and we went there on his day off.

Walter L. Hollmann said...

My best friend and I are such because we were the only ones we knew that wanted to see every movie. So, the last couple of movies I've seen with my best friend (just from the past week): Scott Pilgrim (twice), Step Up 3D, Get Low, Love Ranch, Piranha 3D. Of the two of us, he's the buffier one. Movie-wise, I mean.

I like to watch movies by myself so the closest thing to watching a movie with my best friend was catching Back To the Future on TV. I just enjoy watching movies alone - no distractions, no questions...just focusing on the movie. But that's just me:)

Glenn said...

Step Up 3D. Yes.

I go to a lot of movies on my own, but that's because I go to the media screenings and sometimes it's tough to get people to go along to them when they all live just busy, professional lives.

Heartbreakers. We were drunk. Yes, it happened.

Since my best friend lives in Denmark and I live in Brazil, the last movie we saw together was "The Dark Knight".

Chris na Taraja said...

I'm embarrassed to say THE DARK KNIGHT, gotta call my BFF right way

The Expendables. I had already seen it, but my best friend hadn't. Ugh. Horrendous film, to say the least, but my friend enjoyed it, so I guess it wasn't a total loss.

Clash of the Titans. I actually see most movies by myself, because 1) my friends have no interest and 2) I prefer giving the Serious Movie my undivided attention, but popcorn flicks are meant for watching with buddies! Every five minutes we would cheer, boo, or even dissolve into helpless laughter from the sheer silliness of the movie.

The next time I bring any friend to watch a movie will most likely be Don't Be Afraid of the Dark. Scary movies are highly appropriate for friend-clutching and hiding together under a huge blanket (yes, I sometimes bring a blanket to the movie theater)

Chris K said...

Last movie I saw with my best friend was "Hell Boy 2". We definitely have different tastes. I enjoy dramas and your more "Oscar-type" movies, where he just loved "Epic Movie" the time I was DRAGGED to that. We're definitely both movie freaks in our own respect. I have my massive movie collection, knowledge of award shows, and love of actresses. He's been working for National Lampoon lately and loves comedies.

We watched Lake Placid while I was packing last week. And we're definitely both movie freaks!

Oh shit. I just realised that it was Alice in Wonderland. But we had a third with us, so I'm going to disqualify that and see Bright Star. The world is right again!

walter -- for a second i thought you said "Buffyer" and i though i need to meet this Slayer!

i hope i've done my part to inspire people to take their best friend out again soon -- especially if they saw a bad movie together last time.

The last movie i saw with mine was The Kids Are All Right. But i convinced both of my besties to see I AM LOVE with their significant others and they all loved it (yay!)

Star Trek I believe.

The Trotsky, about six weeks ago. I'm a bigger movie freak than David is, though a decade or so ago it was the other way around.

NATHANIEL R said...

The Trotsky huh? Did you like it? I've only met one other person who has seen it and I never got to talk about it!

I don't remember, it's been quite some time. XP

But we're going to Inception today (world premiere in my country) and we're both movie freaks, we're going together at the movies most of the time.

Agustin said...

I remember the theater I went to see a film but not the people I went with, am I a bad friend?

It was SAINT SEIYA: THE MOVIE back in 1996. We're not even best friends naymore.
