Golden Globe Nomination Announcement

8:12 AM Nothing happening yet.
8:13 Flashbulb tests! That's it.
8:16 Okay Josh Duhamel and Katie Holmes and Blair Underwood are there.

Blair, Josh and Katie for what it's worth.

8:18 Guy Lodge cracks me up. On Twitter he says to me "The Holmes will not be hurried."
8:19 Blair begins. Here we go.
8:35 We've been on a short break. They start again in 4 minutes. I know I could wait to cut and paste press releases but I like to type fast. I type like the wind.

Movies

ORIGINAL SONG
Bound to You (Burlesque)
Coming Home (Country Strong)
I See the Light (Tangled)
There's a Place For Us (Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader)
You Haven't Seen the Last of Me (Burlesque)
  • It hurts me deeply that the Globes don't have musical performances. CHER!

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE MOTION PICTURE
Alexandre Desplat (The King's Speech) -interview coming soon
Danny Elfman (Alice in Wonderland)
A.R. Rahman (127 Hours)
Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross (The Social Network)
Hans Zimmer (Inception)
  • The Social Network score is brilliant and modern and smart and it's certainly racking up awards attention. But will Oscar bite? It's so not that traditionalist's branches cuppa.

SCREENPLAY
Boyle & Beaufoy (127 Hours)
Cholodenko & Blumberg (Kids Are All Right)
Chris Nolan (Inception)
David Seidler (The King's Speech)
Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network)
  • After the NYFCC wins, this is great news for Lisa Cholodenko and team. Will Oscar be next? The King's Speech and Inception may prove tough Original Screenplay competition.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM
Biutiful (Mexico/Spain)
The Concert (France)
The Edge (Russia)
I Am Love (Italy)
In a Better World (Denmark)

  • Of these films only Mexico, Russia and Denmark are eligible for the Oscar category. But it's as delicious as gourmet prawns that the great I Am Love keeps showing up for awardage. It's definitely one of the Best Pictures of the year, even though it's continually ghettoized for foreign consideration only.

ANIMATED FEATURE
Despicable Me
How To Train Your Dragon
The Illusionist
Tangled
Toy Story 3
  • For what it's worth it's important for people to know that animated films are no longer eligible for the Musical/Comedy category which is but one of many reasons why that category is atrocious this year.

LEAD ACTRESS (COMEDY)
Annette Bening (The Kids Are All Right)
Anne Hathaway (Love and Other Drugs)
Angelina Jolie (The Tourist)
Julianne Moore (The Kids Are All Right)
Emma Stone (Easy A)
  • Many people were counting on Emma Stone to receive kudos here (so deserving) but I never believed it on account of Lindsay Lohan's absurd snub for Mean Girls back in the day. But go Emma! She was Grade A in that film. Though my heart remains with The Bening as it always does.

As for The Tourist being a comedy... I think that's called "unintentional comedy" isn't it? I didn't know those were eligible here.

LEAD ACTOR (COMEDY)
Johnny Depp (Alice in Wonderland)
Johnny Depp (The Tourist)
Paul Giamatti (Barney's Version)
Jake Gyllenhaal (Love and Other Drugs)
Kevin Spacey (Casino Jack)
  • The HFPA really likes Spacey. Remember when he got that weirdass nomination for The Shipping News. Yeah, that one stuck out. Speaking of sticking out... is it really necessary to nominate Johnny Depp twice? I mean, he'll show up if you just hand him the one.

SUPPORTING ACTOR
Christian Bale (The Fighter)
Michael Douglas (Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps)
Andrew Garfield (The Social Network)
Jeremy Renner (The Town)
Geoffrey Rush (The King's Speech)
  • No Mark Ruffalo. *sniffle* Which is a bit strange (though not entirely unforseen) given the support for The Kids Are All Right in so many other categories. More on the Globe snubs here.

SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Amy Adams (The Fighter)
Helena Bonham Carter (The Kings Speech)
Mila Kunis (Black Swan)
Melissa Leo (The Fighter)
Jacki Weaver (Animal Kingdom) *most likely to give great speech*
Natalie isn't the only one who wants Mila
  • I will just come out and admit it. When Tarantino gave Kunis a prize in Venice, I thought he was thinking with his second brain. If that's the case the Globes and the BFCA are also using their southern cortexes. Perhaps I misunderestimated awards voters but it just did not read to me at all like an "awards" performance even though I like it just fine. This is not to imply that non-"bait" performances shouldn't be considered. Quite the contrary! Just a reiteration that I remain surprised that she gained traction for it. I guess the Supporting Actress race was skewing towards 50+ women and "we can't have a category of an entire category of old ladies!" He said sarcastically.
BEST DIRECTOR
Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan)
David Fincher (The Social Network)
Tom Hooper (The King's Speech)
Chris Nolan (Inception)
David O. Russell (The Fighter)
  • Interesting gets for Hooper and Russell in a way, since The Globes tend to prefer Big Name directors in the same way they prefer Big Name acting. I wouldn't count out Danny Boyle for an Oscar nod just yet but 127 Hours is certainly slipping, isn't it?

MOTION PICTURE (COMEDY/MUSICAL)
Alice in Wonderland -all posts
Burlesque --all posts
The Kids Are All Right -all posts
Red
The Tourist
  • I'm sorry but what? I think they need to retitle this category "MOTION PICTURE (DUMPING GROUND FOR ALL GENRES OTHER THAN DRAMA)" Our friend Glenn on this lineup
"Is it too late to nominate "the 2010 Golden Globe Nominations" in the Best Musical/Comedy category? They certainly were good for a laugh."
LEAD ACTRESS (DRAMA)
Halle Berry (Frankie and Alice)
Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole)
Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone)
Natalie Portman (Black Swan)
Michelle Williams  (Blue Valentine)
  • Berry's intense focused late term campaigning helped. And the Globes respond to glittery stars.

LEAD ACTOR (DRAMA)
Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network)
Colin Firth (The King's Speech)
James Franco (127 Hours)
Ryan Gosling (Blue Valentine)
Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter)
  • I can't imagine Wahlberg repeating at the Oscars and though the list is VERY young for Oscar all told, perhaps it's Duvall vs. Bridges for the 5th spot and not Gosling vs. someone. Or are we merely employing wishful thinking?

MOTION PICTURE (DRAMA)
Black Swan -all posts
The Fighter -all posts
Inception -all posts
The King's Speech -all posts
The Social Network -all posts
  • These were largely expected but it's a good get for The Fighter which will need to capitalize on its populist appeal in the Oscar race ahead.
The television nominations and the end of the live broadcast are after the jump.

8:50 Announcement has ended.
8:51 Katie Holmes read too quickly for typing, like she didn't want to be there. Or like she knows people are asking "why are you there???" Blair Underwood paces himself beautifully for reporters. Joked that Carrie Underwood was his cousin.

8:54 There's something so final about those color bars. Or maybe the feeling of finality was the Comedy/Musical announements which JoFo rightly claims in the comments will have strong overlap with the Razzies. The comedy category is like End Times this year (god, i hate Alice in Wonderland). Apocalypse now.

Here we go!

Pretty predictable so far.

Except Perabo? What the hell is that show?

Anonymous said...

The TV ones are a bore, it's a shame Mad Men never expanded more here beyond series and leads.

The TV nominations are less exciting when you don't hear things like Anna Gunn, Aaron Paul, Vince Gilligan, Bryan Cranston...

Dominique said...

Sofia Vergara for Modern Family is who you missed :)

Piper Perabo and Julia Stiles got their first major award nomination!

Glenn said...

What the hell is with this "short break" during the nominations? This is ridiculous.

Why do people are still into Glee? Its SO very bad!

Why is Katie Holmes there? What did she do to deserve this? What does she do other than shop and parade her little brat to the paps?

EMMA STONE! FUCK YEAH!

Dear God, the comedy nominations are a travesty. I kinda want to gag...

WOW, Berry over Manville...they truly are starf*ckers......

MILA KUNIS OVER DIANNE WIEST

HALLE BERRY OVER LESLEY MANVILLE

Someone f*cked up.

Ryan and Michelle WOO-HOO!!!!!

Douglas??? Jolie???? wow....

Double nom for Depp.

Am I the only one who hated Burton's Alice?

Anonymous said...

The only good thing was Jackie Weaver.

aclp said...

Hathaway and Ghyllenhaal hev to be very very very thankful that both are very very very mainstream, likable, sweet, harmless, kind, relatable and vanilla. That movie was awful and neither of them were good enough to nominated. Those were two very average performances, nothing special about it.

Bia said...

The Tourist?!! Man, they are such star f*ckers!

Dominique said...

Also, did any one else think that Josh Duhamel kinda looked like an aggressive douche?

It could because of all that negative press he's getting. Or rather that the press is justified...

Anonymous said...

It seems weird that Love and Other Drugs and The Tourist got acting nominations but then RED and Burlesque got Best Picture nominations. I mean, clearly these are just fillers, why not just make it somewhat coherent?

Kim said...

Yikes, the comedy nominations are a bit embarrassing. The Bening and Kids Are All Right should coast to a win, yes?

Also, I know this is a film blog, but can I just say how much I HATE that the Globes combine Comedy, Drama and Movies in the supporting TV categories??? I hate hate hate it. First of all, it cuts out so many worthy performers (Hendricks for Mad Men!) and you really can't compare a sitcom performance to an hour long drama to a TV movie.

Rant over. :-0

ferdi said...

Bleah! No Wiest, no Richardson, no Ruffalo, no Manville, no Hershey...

Instead we have Jolie, double Depp, Anne & Jake, and Berry.

The only good things (beyond Bening, Portman and Ryan&Michelle)is Julianne Moore. Maybe it is not over yet. Cross fingers for the SAG.

The comedy/musical overlap with the Razzies this year is going to be huge.

Peter said...

Was Toy Story 3 ghettoized into Best Animated feature by rule or just by voter stupidity? I haven't seen The Tourist, but I'm pretty sure it's not better than TS3.

NATHANIEL R said...

Amanda -- anyone who hated ALICE IN WONDERLAND is a friend of mine (read my bileful thoughts on that movie here)

KIM - totally agreed on the weird combo pack awards. supporting actors get no respect. their noms are always robbed by lead actors and then on top of that thye always have to share categories.

even the satellites which have 7 million ategories only have one for the supporting people.

NATHANIEL R said...

JoFo -- that's so true.

Peter -- since they created the animated category, animated films are no longer allowed in comedy. i tell you the animated feature category is a huge ghetto, the projects of movie awards. I think animated films will only get their proper due once they dump the specialized categories for them (here and elsewhere)

Unknown said...

Double nominations for Johnny Depp = complete joke.

Mila Kunis just might find herself an Oscar nominee. Hmm...

"Frankie and Alice" possibly gaining traction?

No real surprises for me, though.

Anonymous said...

No Ruffalo? Wow, he's the person who's name I've heard tossed around the most as a front-runner for Supporting Actor, at least in the beginning he was. I'm guessing he got passed over so they could show Michael Douglass some love.

The nods for Depp and Jolie stunned me, but I feel like I shouldn't be surprised at all. I'm really happy for Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams though. I'm not really surprised about the True Grit snub.

As for TV, Piper Perabo and Jennifer Love Hewitt's names being called shocked the hell out of me. But I'm glad Idris Elba got some love!

Amy said...

Is there ONE reason why Aaron Eckhart is being ignored?

P.S. Has anyone actually seen Berry's movie to know if she or it is any good?

James said...

Was it really THAT weak of a year for Comedies? I mean they could have easily found SOMETHING to fill the spot of the putrid Alice in Wonderland. Also, I know they really love Depp but if they keep nominating him for his lazy Burton work how is he supposed to get the wake up call that he needs to move on

Burlesque?

@KIm: I didn't know that about the Globes (that they don't split TV catagories) which shows how much I pay attention to them or to TV for that matter. I actually always thought it was a point in GG's favor that they split film catagories (and that they recognized Kidman for To Die For). It seems insane that they don't do the same for TV.

Speaking of Kidman, it looks like she is the only one who got a nom for Rabbit Hole (like, "She's too famous not to nominate, but Eckhardt isn't famous enough"?) To be fair I haven't seen the film, but it's becoming all about Kidman, which seems unfair, since people are praising the film, and um - there were other people involved. Like, the writer, the director, the rest of the cast...And I'm a Kidman fan, so no offense intended on that account.

Not that I take the Globes seriously. At all.

Peter said...

I'm having a hard time thinking of other non-animated musicals or comedies that should have been in there.

I mean, I enjoyed Hot Tub Time Machine but I understand why it's not HFPA's cup of tea.

May be time to axe that category.

James T said...

Nathaniel - It's Country Strong, not Song ;) It took me a while to digest that info.

Amy said...

troyhopper, that is the only mention Halle Berry will hopefully get for Frankie and Alice.

Very irritating....The Tourist? I can't get over it.

Yay for Kidman, maybe, she will be carrying the sole banner for Rabbit Hole after all. I was so hoping John Cameron Mitchell will step into that mainstream spotlight.

Also, was anyone else hoping beyond hope that the Globes might point out (via omission) that Steve Buscemi was horribly miscast in Boardwalk Empire? He's doing solid work, he just seems all wrong for the role. In terms of people in that cast who deserve an award, he's about sixth on the list.

Janice said...

Nat, thanks for the coverage (and typing!)

I am glad to see Melissa Leo's name up there, though. (I just watched the trailer, btw - don't they think that people who actually care enough to go to a movie because of Christian Bale and Amy Adams would also be interested in Melissa Leo? Another Academy Award nominee? Would it have hurt to type her name in there, really?)

Bia said...

I'm fine with Mila Kunis moving up the ranks, it's a great breakout role for her.

John T said...

Troy-I had the same thought. Who has actually seen Frankie & Alice? It does seem obvious though that this is that annual "Drama Nominee with No Chance." Whenever there's an actress with a guaranteed comedy nomination (like Bening this year-see also Streep in Julia/Prada, Cotillard in La Vie), there's always one oddball Drama nominee.

Glenn said...

Great/Good comedies that missed out: I Love You Phillip Morris, Four Lions, City Island, Greenberg.

SO happy for Jacki Weaver. Is this a sign that she's even stronger than we initially thought? If even the starfuckers of the HFPA (and they're even moreso this year) could nominate her...

Meanwhile, is it too late to nominate "The 2010 Golden Globe Nominations" in the Best Musical/Comedy category. They certainly were good for a laugh. But what to boot out? Alice in Wonderland? The Tourist? They were all so good!

I can not believe they nominated Burlesque, The Tourist and Red for Best Picture Comedy!!! I mean it's not that they didn't have any more choices: Scott Pilgrim and Easy A are a thousand times better than any of those! So pissed off right now!

i only will write about "the tourist" nods:it's Depp's worst role/acting since a long time(i yet disliked him in "alice":he was again "charlie" but it's nothing next to "the tourist"),Jolie is a nice Jessica Rabbit but she doesn't deserve a nod and i disliked "the tourist"(it's NOT very good).I know the comedy in GG is always a weak category but here it's cheap

Funny: Jolie, Depp, Burlesque, Piper Perabo noms and Katie Holmes being there at all.
Best comedy/ musical looks like that Kids Stars awards list thing

Not Funny: no Bardem, no Swinton, no Noomi Rapace, no The Ghost Writer

PLEASED: Blue Valentine, I Am Love, The Fighter, the absent of Herafter and True Grit

What i have noticed over this pat few days is the strong showing of michelle williams i mean she actually won something yesterday i think she is our 5th best actress nominee mot moore or manville who has been truly forgotten.

I still feel steinfeld will replace kunis but who knows sometimes they are kind to the youngsters if your in a best pic nominee.

Nat who are the frontrunners in al lcategories for acting.

Arkaan said...

1. No, it's not a sign that Weaver is stronger then we initially thought. Glenn, your ra rah rah enthusiasm for Australian film is engaging, but this doesn't mean a whole hell of a lot. Weaver will get nominated at the Oscars. The fact is HFPA is the "Foreign Press" and yeah, despite the starfuckery, being foreign actually helps here. Hell, Ramirez got nominated for Carlos!

2. I agree that 127 Hours is a little weaker than we previously thought, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Boyle left out. I think Nolan's chances just lept forward though - I really thought he would be left out come oscar time.

3. The comedy category is awful. Though RED was actually susprisingly well reviewed.

4. The biggest boost? Definitely for The Fighter and Blue Valentine.

5. I find it rather humourous that Nathaniel dismissed Kunis' Venice win as a product of genitalia but criticized those who thought that Coppola's win there was a produce of history. I don't think she'll get into oscar's line-up, though.

6. The foreign film category here is slightly better than at the BFCA. I Am Love is so overrated though - it's still my least favourite film of the year (*I've seen like 20 films).

The SAGS could put Bridges, Manville, Berry or Adams in the mix, but I see the Oscars nods going like this:

Actor: Firth, Franco, Eisenberg, Gosling, Duvall

Actress: Portman, Bening, Lawrence, Kidman, Williams

Supp. Actor: Bale, Rush, Garfield, Ruffalo, Renner

Supp. Actress: Leo, Bonham-Carter, Weaver, Steinfeldt, Kunis

I might be the minority, but I truly enjoyed Anne Hathaway's performance in LAOD. Most critics didn't like the film , but they praised her very good performance ( and Jake Gyllenhaal received some good notices) . I still don't understand why the average score for this movie at rottentomatoes is 44%. 44% are Adam Sandler films, GI Joe, most Jennifer Aniston movies, and Love Guru. I found LAOD to be decent with charm, intelligence, and complexity.

Somehow seeing those TV nominations made me really miss "Better Off Ted". What a brilliant show that was.

Any nomination for a non-baity role that's still well acted is a good nomination for me. Go, Mila Kunis! Get that Golden Globe nomination you should have had for Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Then again, if The Tourist is what the Globes consider a comedy, no wonder she wasn't nominated back then.

Alison Flynn said...

@Amanda: no, you're not the only one who hated Burton's Alice in Wonderland. It was awful.

I figured Depp would get nominated for the Mad Hatter role though.

And I haven't seen The Tourist. Has anyone seen it yet? Is it as bad as the critics have made it out to be?

P.S. I'll continue to be a hater and say that Manville is gone and that "I told you so"

But yeah, overall the nominations are pretty embarrassing.

Ryan said...

The only reason I'm not surprised that Kunis is gaining traction is because she sticks out like a sore thumb. So much of Black Swan is Nina's subjective reality, which is harsh, dark, dour, and frightening, and then there's Lily. She makes it ok to laugh. Her presence reassured me of this on-going, grounded existence outside of Nina's pathology. I was excited to see her every time she came on screen. Now, one could argue that this has absolutely nothing to do with Kunis's talent as an actress, but I imagine it was incredibly challenging to maintain the ambiguity of Lily's intentions, which is imperative to the success of the film. We must always be just as suspicious of and drawn to her as Nina is. In other words, I don't view her role as significantly or objectively less challenging than Portman's. Additionally, she was forced to be this beacon of breeziness, warmth, and casual sensuality amidst an allegedly grueling and immensely serious film set. So much of what tonal complexity there was is dependent upon her strength and restraint as an actress. She didn't even over-do it. I saw the movie the second day it came out, and I remember going into it thinking, "I wonder why the other main character hasn't been getting much notice at all," only to be pleasantly surprised by Kunis's well-executed portion of the White Swan/Black Swan dichotomy.

At the same time, I suppose I am surprised, because Kunis is viewed more as a sex symbol than a serious actress, and I totally get your reaction to this sudden momentum, especially because it's hard to seem awards-y with all that crying and violence and seriousness everywhere else. As we all know, awards groups tend towards the tears and the screaming and whatnot. I mean, she's in a film with Winona and B-Hersh for God's sake! Not to mention Portman. I just hope that this is a good sign for her career.

Also, apologies for veering off into an FYC add for Mila Kunis. I've developed a fondness for this performance and have been dying to put in my two cents! I guess I was a little over-zealous.

"Best Musical or Comedy" is insane! The only movie I did not saw is "the tourist" but I heared not so many good things about it. It seems like "Alice" (a stinker!), "Burlesque" (nothing new, just big) and "Red" (a nice one) are big titels with big stars and thats the reason why they got nominated.

Next big name: Johnny is good in his job but two nominations? For this movies? Do they don't know enough names there?

Mark Wahlberg was so bad in last years "lovely bones" I don't think the academy is ready to hand him more than that nomination. Ryan Gosling would need the win for more attention!!

Yay Julianne Moore got nominated!! Liked her so much in this movie but Bening seems to be more dominate in that race.

Michael Douglas is sick, he got nominated... great for him...

Yay "I am love" got attention, in the wrong category...

On a last note, it's great to see Julia Stiles, Michael C. Hall and Laura Linney nominated :)

Rebecca said...

They nominated Julia Stiles for 'Dexter'? I've been thinking the entire season that while she does a decent job, that role could really be amazing in the hands of a different actress. Awards shouldn't just be about rewarding competent performances.

John T said...

The scarier thing is-Depp as the Hatter could win. I mean, Giamatti's in a movie no one saw, Depp in The Tourist is apparently not an option, Gyllenhaal was in a film that was equally as panned, and Spacey was in a film no one saw.

Anonymous said...

Ryan - it's actually perfect. The only thing I could come up with was that Jennifer Connelly and Rachel Weisz, rumored for the leads roles ten years ago, would be good but not as good as natalie and Mila were. And Mila's experience in comedy helped a lot. And I'm actually thankful for her and other girls their generation who dip their foot into comedy because it helps them radiate even in their dramatic roles i.e. Emma Stone. Sorry for the tangent.

I gave up on Greenberg a long time ago, which is sad. If that movie doesn't show up on my best list, y'all have my permission to slap me.

Also nest egg for Conviction. And of course, earlier releases like Michael Shannon for Runaways, Shutter Island (flawed but pretty), and even Hot Tub Time Machine, which is funnier than Red and The Tourist can ever be combined.

George P. said...

Congrats to Halle Berry on getting that much-needed boost. I really need to drive up to LA to see Frankie and Alice now, before it leaves.

While I'm glad that Burlesque got nominated, the Alice in Wonderland and The Tourist spots could've been filled by sooo much better choices (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Easy A).

Delighted to now see "Golden Globe-nominated" added to these first-timers: Emma Stone, Romola Garai, Idris Elba, Mila Kunis, Julia Stiles, Andrew Garfield, and Christina Aguilera(!).

Sad to not see a "Golden Globe-nominated" added to these forgotten: Mark Ruffalo, Sam Rockwell, and Michael Cera.

OMG @ Piper Perabo and Jennifer Love Hewitt being Golden Globe nominees!

Ugh. I really wish Jim Carrey, Ewan McGregor, and I Love You Phillip Morris would be more of an awards-player during this season.

Broooooke said...

Angelina Jolie over Sally Hawkins!!! Are you F**CKING kidding me. I guess her oscar hope is 0 now.

I am STOKED at Emma Stone's nomination, and in an amazing line-up f atrsses for that catagory too (Cept Jole, Though I like her in other things). I was hoping for it, but thought it seemed very unlikely

Looks like Manville is getting left behind. And Ruffalo should have been nominated, they could have nominated him for Best Lead Actor as well, since that catagory is full of rubbish.

Anyway in terms of Eckhart. I saw Rabbit Hole a couple of days ago, and while he was good, I felt like he over did it a bit, unlike Kidman, who was subtle enough to be great, adn Weist, who was pitch perfect in a small role. I was also impressed with Miles Teller, though he seems to be forgotten.

Also I just watched Dexter, and I don't know what Stiles is doing here, She wasn't bad, but i can hink of so many more deserving people.

Nathaniel, while I agree the Best Comedy category is baffling—to put it mildly—overall I think the HFPA did really good this year...

MY FAV NOMINATIONS (of those who weren’t locked)
- Jackie Weaver, "Animal Kingdom"
- Ryan Gosling, "Blue Valentine"
- Darren Aronofsky, "Black Swan"
- Jake Gyllenhaal, "Love & Other Drugs" (his first Globe nod)
- "The Social Network" score

TOP 5 WORST SNUBS
- "Dogtooth" – Best Foreign Film
- Mark Ruffalo, "The Kids Are All Right"
- Lesley Manville, "Another Year" (should have gone Comedy)
- Jim Carrey, "I Love You Phillip Morris"
- Dianne Wiest, "Rabbi Hole"

But again, over all, I’m thrilled with these year’s Globe nominees ☺

And has Kate Winslet's Mildred Pierce debuted? That'd be kind of crazy of them to not invite her to the party (if HBO has even aired the miniseries yet, that is).

Maybe they need to rethink campaigning Manville as supporting? Her lead nod is looking less likely now

Glenn -- i for one thank you for cheerleading this performance. It took several people telling me to see this movie for me to go and i'm so glad i did. Weaver is amazing in it.

and i actually wish more people would cheerlead for their home countries :) sometimes i'm depressed when i meet people from other countries and all they want to talk about is hollywood films. i'm like no let's talk about [insert name of amazing director/actress from their country] and they're like "who?"

true story.
