The Most Hilarious Thing About The Globe Nominations Is...

... no, no, no. It's NOT that hideous Comedy/Musical best picture lineup. It's even more absurdist than that.

The most hilarious thing about the Golden Globe noms is...

Dame Judi Dench vs. Jennifer Love Hewitt

Only at the Globes, people, only at the Globes.

This is the first and last circumstance in which they'll ever be mentioned in the same breath. We hope. LOL, this is so not a fair fight. (FWIW, the other nominees for Best Actress in a Miniseries are: Hayley Atwell in Pillars of the Earth, Emmy winner Claire Danes for Temple Grandin and Romola Garai in Emma.)

This goes without saying but Team Dench! Cranford is a delight. I caught it late at night on PBS. Thanks for the laugh Nat because this will be ignored courtesy of Touristgate.

Obviously Team Dench here, but Danes has this thing wrapped up in a bow after the Emmy Awards.

I don't understand the joke here. just because Dench was playing herself in "I know what you did last summer" it doesn't mean she's not as good as Miss Hewitt. Give the girl a break!

Wicked, Nathaniel. You're wicked. Jennifer Love Hewitt never did anything to you. What about that Audrey Hepburn movie she was in? The...score was really moody.

earlier this year I was very excited to see Return to Cranford. While it wasn't as great as the first series (which was amazing!!!), Judi Dench was SPECTACULAR! again.

In a perfect world, she would easily win, just like she should've also won 2 years ago!!! Take that, Laura Linney! :P though nothing personal.

however, it's not a fair comparison. I see tears in that photo, so maybe there's potential :) how would you feel if I would've told you 2 years ago that Judi Dench was running in the same category with, let's say, Mo'Nique? you never know...

I'm usually not that crazy about Dame Judi, but she was fantastic in Cranford, so was the mini-series by the way.

I've only seen one nominee in this category (Romola Garai in Emma), who I loved and will be rooting for.

Actually it's Dame Judi Dench vs. Jennifer Love-Hewitt's brows. They're amazing! Jennifer is only a addition to them.

The Pretentious -- how do you know what Love did or did not do to me, huh?

answer me that mister.

If it wasn't for the fact that I hear she's a bit nutty/clingy (only the kind of thing you read in a magazine in an almost all-girl office) JLH would still be in my free-pass list ;-)

How long ago did Temple Grandin come out? Jesus ....

Hahaha! That is funny. Hm, I've seen none of the nominees so I dunno...but hasn't Clare Danes won enough already for that movie? Haha

Nathaniel, while I agree the Best Comedy category is baffling—to put it mildly—overall I think the HFPA did pretty good this year...

MY FAV NOMINATIONS (of those who weren’t locked)
- Jackie Weaver, "Animal Kingdom"
- Ryan Gosling, "Blue Valentine"
- Darren Aronofsky, "Black Swan"
- Jake Gyllenhaal, "Love & Other Drugs" (his first Globe nod)
- "The Social Network" score

TOP 5 WORST SNUBS
- "Dogtooth" – Best Foreign Film
- Mark Ruffalo, "The Kids Are All Right"
- Lesley Manville, "Another Year" (should have gone Comedy)
- Jim Carrey, "I Love You Phillip Morris"
- Dianne Wiest, "Rabbi Hole"

But again, over all, I’m thrilled with these year’s Globe nominees ☺

Rabbi Hole? The sheer number of unintentional puns this movie has brought into my life = pure gold! ;-D

This will be the one time the winner doesn't say, "It's an honor to be in this category with all these talented women I admire." Ahhahahaha

Why wasn't KAte Winslet nominated?

badmofo -- what is it about that title that's so easy to mistype. i'm constantly reinventing it myself.

ryan -- agreed on nearly all of the praise for those "unlocked" candidates.

Jay -- for what?

My bad. I knew that HBO was doing Mildred Pierce, but I thought it had alreayd come out. We'll have to wait a while longer for Kate's first Emmy and third GG ;) *crosses fingers*
