Pfeiffer Teaser

This image comes from ioncinema... and was sent in by Film Experience reader Chris. Thanks Chris! Ahhhhhh, relief. Pfeiffercalifragilistic expialodocious. Even though the sound (of being excited about a film by the maker of Look Who's Talking) of it is something quite atrocious. I can't even breathe thinking about laying eyes on La Pfeiffer again onscreen after 3 years of total deprivation! 2003, 2004, and 2005 have been cruel and unusual cinematic punishments for Pfans everywhere. Bring this on, now!

And, Michelle, while I'm being greedy singing this anticipatory tune, please call up Susanne Bier immediately! Clear both your schedules and make this frickin' movie already. You were supposed to start filming 13 months ago. Have you seen Brothers, her last film? It's great. If Bier can pull that performance out of the very uneven Connie Nielsen, think what she could do for you, a world great actress? Read scripts. Choose Projects. Act! Act! Act! Get that Oscar on your shelf. Don't let Jessica Tandy continue to laugh at you from that fiery 8th circle of hell. SHE STOLE YOUR OSCAR

um... heh heh. Er... my apologies, forgot my meds got carried away there. I'm sure Jessica Tandy was a lovely lovely thief woman. Truly.

Oh my God that was hilarious. I need La Pfeiffer too, probably not so desperately (hey, *definitely* not so desperately)... but still... she's La Pfeiffer for the love of God.

Huh. Didn't realize until now that Bier's film was slated with FOCUS. That bodes very, very well, methinks. But what would you do, Nathaniel, if Michelle made her grand return then lost the statue to Julianne?

I think the Film Experience would implode.

The Universe may collapse onto itself.

don't forget nathaniel that amy did bring us Clueless and Fast Times. This could be a lot of fun, and it is the return of the beautiful Stacey Dash alongside La Pfeiffer.

Oh, man. Stacey Dash in a new movie? I may never run out of material again. Is she still playing a high schooler?

I LOVE Pfeiffer and she was excellent in '..Baker Boys', but Tandy's performance was better that year.
I am more royally pissed at her missing out on an Oscar for 'Dangerous Liasons'(to Geena Davis of all people) and missing out on nominations for 'The Age Of Innocence' and 'White Oleander'

anonymous. you do realize you speak heresy. do you not? (in regards to 1989)

I actually recently saw Pfeiffer in Baker Boys and was not quite as impressed as I thought I'd be... it was much more about the Boys, and she didn't really "WOW" me in that way I was expecting. But then she did win every other award that year except oscar, including all major critics' groups (kind of a Streep in Sophie's Choice level of acclaim, that) so I assume she must've deserved it. (I have not seen Driving Miss Daisy)

she did deserve it yes. but Jessica Tandy did that ever-annoying sweep in at the end of December thing that always makes fools of Oscar in the long run. Just like La Skank last year with Million Dollar Baby beating 4 worthier nominees.

it is also worth noting that the 80s were more sentimental as Oscar goes and they liked to do that 'reward the oldies thing' ... Kim Basinger would have never beat Golira Stuart if Titanic had been in 1987 instead of 1997.

There was a lot of media momentum in 1989 to recognize Tandy's whole career with the Oscar which was rather silly because she was hardly a leading light of the cinema (though important on stage as the original Blanche DuBois). Pfeiffer was already more important to CINEMA in 1989 than Tandy could ever have been (given her limited impact and filmography) but Pfeiffer was also only 31 at the time...and they may have figured (wrongly) that they'd have many more chances to award her.

I can't stand that Winona Ryder stole all of the acclaim from La Pfeiffer back in 1993 for The Age of Innocence. In my opinion, it was Michelle who stole that movie from everyone around her. She was AMAZING. I would have nominated her..
