omg - that movie "there will be blood" - that really sh*t the bed. i could barely sit through it. ditto the horrible "no country for old men."

lol?

Hopefully LA really mixes things up. They have a tendency to do that, even if not for the best.

Like, maybe Revolutionary Road evyerwhere??? haha (won't happen)

Very plausible dream: "Milk"

Very plausible nightmare: "Slumdog Millionaire"

Very plausible LAFCA-style, curveball possibility: "Wall-E"

Overrated WALL*E, it is.

oh a WALL•E win would be so fun. i'm assuming slumdog though on account of the trending each year of critics awards being more and more homogenous and interchangeable

Is it strange that I'm most excited by a "runner up" prize in the Best Supporting Actor category?

So LAFCA makes history by awarding an animated film as their best film. Awesome. This starts the awards train for Heath Ledger and Penelope Cruz. Love that Sally Hawkins won. Hope she can pull off NYFCC. And there's Melissa Leo again. She's poised to upset one of the anointed ones, but which one? Kate Winslet might need to worry. The Globes will have to come through for "Revolutionary Road" in a big way now.
