"come with me if you want to link"

Poster Wire an animated poster for Terminator: Salvation. oh god please let this marketing technique take off. We loves it
Awards Daily "a tale of two Nixons" -damn, I wish I'd thought of that
The Big Picture The Wrestler takes a hit from the LA Times. Right in time for Oscar season. Ouch, that'll sting
ONTD Seventeen describes the sexual appeal of Robert Pattison. Dear god he's like a Frankenstein monster of celebs
Modern Tonic has a Best of TV 2008 list...
Are You There, Blog? Carrie Fisher hawking her new book. She's so damn funny

Deadline Hollywood Luhrmann to take on The Great Gatsby next. Damn but Baz likes a challenge. That thing (brilliant) has to be considered unfilmable, right?
The Carpetbagger alerts us to the annual Oscar short films showing
Multiple Personality Cruise visits Letterman "they have this thing called the internet and they have these things called blogs"
Towleroad Seann William Scott photos from Balls Out. That boy (thankfully) has no shame
The Bad and Ugly ...speaking of shameless, Halle Berry going topless again (pics from the set of Frankie and Alice)
Boy Culture Matthew celebrates his 40th in swanky style... Yes, I was there (my illustration is the last one on the page. That is such a great party memorabilia idea. I'm totally going to steal it)

And finally... Heroine Content takes issue with Empire's "100 Greatest Movie Characters" list. There's a lot to take issue with. It's 88% male, 93% white. So annoying. Guess who's not on the list? Margo Channing from All About Eve. Severine from Belle Du Jour. Mrs. Iselin from The Manchurian Candidate. Blanche DuBois from A Streetcar Named Desire. Martha from Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. Bree from Klute. F***ing Annie Hall. Yeesh... and that's just the seven that popped into my head without looking at any list of movies. Most of the women chosen were from genre or "guy" movies (Aliens, Star Wars, The Professional, Silence of the Lambs, ...Roger Rabbit) The canons are always being rewritten but they always get rewritten in the same old ways.

Too bad, I really wanted Baz to do a movie version of "Wicked"...

well, if he would stop trying to make 5 movies simultaneously (that's what i've decided he was doing with australia) he could probably make more than 1 every 6 years.

so hopefully he'll make both and force himself to work more quickly

The 100 Greatest Movie Characters of All Time....

um...where was Elle Woods, Judy Benjamin and Miranda Presley?

I'm an Empire reader, and I'm always embarrassed by the public-vote lists they do. The average reader is the type who thinks cinema began with "Jaws" and "Star Wars".

Jigsaw from the Saw movies but no Tracy Flick? Agent Smith from The Matrix instead of the Tramp (aka Charles Chaplin)? No Carrie, Clementine Kruczynski or Holly Golightly? That list is so idiotic it makes the AFI "100 best american movies" list look like something out of Cahiers du Cinema. Shame on everyone involved.

There's a recent interview with Baz and he speaks out about the critics and also FOX. The problem isn't that he wanted to do much.. he just needed more time to bring in a more narrow focus. Should have waited a year like MR!.. who knows what Oscar kudos he would have gotten. He's doing a director's cut DVD for next Christmas.. I will laugh hysterically if it happens to be genius.

Glad he's going an adaptation.. but I wanted more romance still!

It's funny, it seems like people just thought Baz was going to quit after Australia's BO. I mean, I know it was expensive.. but the man is a genius.. one of the best (and divisive) director's today.

Jay Gatsby - Leo DiCaprio (is there any other option for Baz)
Nick Carraway - Ryan Gosling
Daisy Buchanan - ??? wow. 10 years ago i think i woulda said Gwyneth Paltrow
Tom Buchanan - Josh Brolin... maybe this is the chance Baz has to work with Russell Crowe?

Also, the phrase "I agree with pony," just cracked me up. Even though, I do, in fact agree with pony.

Please, do not try to give Empire credence by taking that list seriously. They thought David Fincher was the eighth best director OF ALL TIME.

I wish the 1926 version of Gatsby starring the lovely Lois Wilson as Daisy weren't a lost film...

Nate, re: 'A Tale of Two Nixons', both Langella and Hopkins have also played Zorro before, so you could do something about that lol. Or Sherlock Holmes (Langella) vs. Hannibal Lecter (Hopkins).

I'd nix DiCaprio, but I love the rest of Casey's choices. Maggie Gyllenhaal as Myrtle? I don't know, you guys are all smarter casting directors than I am. (And I'm sure you're right about Leo, I'd just rather see somebody else, like maybe Billy Crudup.)
