Oh, yeah. See, I think it's going to be better for the movie that Kidman comes across sometimes as a little cold and distant. Then Jackman warms her up. (me next, please).
And I don't think "Australia" is going to be another "Cold Mountain". CM was filmed in Romania (?), directed by a Brit, starring a Brit and an Aussie, about a topic (US Civil War) that is still a hot button in the US. (Civil wars seem to be like that, the reprecussions stay around for centuries). So, sure, audiences were divided.
"Australia" is being made in Australia, by Australians, speaking their own accent, about topics they feel deeply about and are going to portray with all their heart. We may not get it all, but I think we'll be blown away by the passion of it, on many levels.
i want someone to explain how you can take kidman seriously anymore,she looks like a diff woman,she also has silly inflated lips,i do not belive for 1 min she is who she is supposed to be playing in australia with her botoxed millenium makeover,she used to be so good but although her acting is always good something detracts from her perfs and that is the state of her face and it really apins me to say this i cannot take her seriously just like jessica lange - period!!!!!
I agree that Hugh Jackman should play Guido in Nine. It's not that hard to look italian. Streep pulled it off okay, and she looks much less italian than Jackman, or Day-Lewis for matter. Jackman has black hair and is a little bit furry, and I'm sure could do the accent if it came to that. He'd be fine.

Anon, the best way to deal with Kidman hater is to ignore them. Let them go on their weird rants and just remember that she's given more brilliant performances this decade than anyone else.

Something I only just found out today... the man writing the script for Australia with Baz... wrote Derailed.

I'm not - as much as a control freak as Baz is (and I mean that in the most loving way, ie, he is extremely hands on with every aspect of the films he is making) I'm sure the man wrote the script Baz wanted him to write. And then proceded to make changes from there. (MR went through a ridiculous number of rewrites and changed drastically from first, second and third inception, etc; even the film itself differs greatly in some places from what was shooting script, or at least what I've read of it. For the better, I might add.)

But I do love Jackman. And Lurhman is an amazing director. And I am Australian, which means I could see it before nathaniel and then potentially come and tease, which would be great . . . but the plot and everything, I don't know, it just leaves me cold - even if that photo is mondo hot. So here's one Aussie who won't be seeing it before you nathaniel, that makes it better . . . right?
