Beauty Break

I'm having a retro moment. I blame Jane Fonda gearing up for tonight's TONY Awards. Let's go 1960/70s. Mmmm, hairy.

Catherine Deneuve, Racquel Welch, Jane Fonda (the culprit!), Robert Redford & Paul Newman, Julie Christie, Steve McQueen, Pam Grier and Jacqueline Bissett. Mmmm9

Is it me or were people sexier back than? And I mean reaaaaaaally sexy, not in a trashy way.

They are wonderful pictures.

One thing I would like to comment you, Nat, I don't think this is the right post, but I don't find a Best Actress post, I've just seen COCO AVANT CHANEL for second time and It's definitely NOT A BEST ACTRESS CONTENDER, just a Best Costume Design contender.

Audrey Tautou is depressing in the role, she disappoints a lot and I don't find nothing interesting in how the biopic worked: It was much better the one Shirley MacLaine did, for example.

Just this, Nat. Happy to write here again.

They're HOTTIES.

Sad about Audrey. She was good in 'Amelie' but God, she was trash in 'The Da Vinci Code'.

Marisa noted. welcome back.

MeMe well this was the cream of the crop ;) minus a few important ones (i coulda kept going) i think the thing that was sexier is that there was more natural stuff going on... less airbrushing (not that these photos aren't carefully constructed or "polished" however they were dolling them up back then)

To Marisa Tomei:
Coco Chanel's Audrey Tautou is enough insipid but Benoit Poelvoorde is really great in lover!
About the photos, they have sexy great hair!

All of the pictures are gorgeous but Pam Grier is most scorching. Never noticed how stunning Jane Fonda and Catherine Deneuve were before.

Is it just me or is Elizabeth Hurley a spitting image of Jacqueline Bissett?

NATHANIEL R said...

agent69 good call. wow. never thought about that but yes they could be sisters.

Is it me or is Catherine Deneuve the spitting image of the late Elizabeth Montgomery. Thought for sure that was her actually.

Happy belated birthday wishes, Nat. Off topic and not to distract from the Tony excitement, but I just have to ask: What made you put Julia Hummer up there in your banner? She doesn't really have a high profile as an actress, internationally, and has concentrated on making music recently. She was great in Christian Petzold's "Die innere Sicherheit" and "Gespenster", though. I was just surprised to see her here next to Sally Hawkins.

Jane Fonda is beautiful.

@Paul... this week's banner is a contest win for medwenistch (who has weirdly not commented) and he selected the theme and many of the people featured.

@Bryan... well, Deneuve is Bewitching (ba dum dum... my dumbest joke of all time!!! I'll be here all week)

@Rosie... yes she is. I wish she would make more dramatic movies again. I am so crazy about her 70s work.

Oh, how I welcome the unexpected vision of Catherine Deneuve on any website. Sometimes the explosion of unattainable gorgeousness is too much to handle... but somehow I always persevere
