There Will Be Blood I think is probably at the top. I'm a huge Radiohead fan too so that only makes me relish the awesomeness of Jonny Greenwood's insanity even more. I think i've listened to 'Prospectors Arrive' and 'Henry Plainview' the most.
Philip Glass is up there too, for The Hours. I can't really describe what it does to me. 'Dead Things' and 'Escape!' are just ethereal to me. Distant and emotional.
The Hours
This is ridiculous I know, but I love the score for The Last of the Mohicans. I find myself humming it frequently.
Favorite movie soundtrack ever has to be Pretty In Pink.
The Fountain. I've still only seen the film once but the music is captivating. Reminds me of the film but is also immensely powerful in its own right.
And put me down for The Hours too... Philip Glass is always good though.

and the soundtracks list would be enormous, for every musical I like, I listen to its soundtrack frequently
It's a great way to revisit the movie, that is why I like musicals the most, I can rexperience them an awful lot more than non-musicals, cause they don't require 100% of your attention, you can listen while you take a shower, while you surf the internet, while you have dinner with friends. Musicals are, and will always be, the ultimate cinematic experience.
The Fountain is a great one too.

Didn't care that much for either movie, but "The Hours" and "The Last Temptation of Christ" have beautiful scores.

i'm also in love by pulp fiction, trainspotting, almost famous and high fidelity soundtracks.
more recently i really enjoyed the score in requiem for a dream, the hours, atonement and there will be blood.
i'm also a fan of the songs moby composed for southland tales.

Currently it's still Watchmen's decades-spanning soundtrack, as well as Hans Zimmer's impressive Angels & Demons work.
I keep finding myself returning to Hans Zimmer a lot actually (Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Gadiator, Last Samurai especially) and Tyler Bates' 300 score.
Oooo I forgot The Fountain! And Requiem for a Dream, whoops! Which is sad because I used to play 'Together We Will Live Forever' on piano almost every day. I love 'Stay With Me' a lot too. From Requiem my favorite track is actually a shorter one, not 'Lux Aeterna', it's 'Ghosts of Things to Come'. I'm a cellist as well, and play the simple intervals (they're like 5ths and 3rds for like 3 major scales)whenever i'm feeling listless.
Oh, and give me the rousing main themes to any of Arnie's 80's action flicks: Terminator, Commando, Conan, Predator. Glorious synthesizer!
I love the soundtrack for :Talk To Her (The Shrinking Lover theme is sublime). Also, The Wall-e soundtrack(define dancing).
The Nino Rota/Federico Fellini compilation is out of this world, especially La Strada and Nights of Cabiria, always get a knot in the throat.
In terms of non-orchestral the following come to mind: Clueless(Radiohead and The Cranberries?), Stealing Beauty(just for Cocteau Twins' Alice alone), oooh and Velvet Goldmine(Cause you have to love any band named Venus in Furs),

I listen to Moulin Rouge at least once a month.
The Hours and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button for score, Nashville and Mamma Mia! for general soundtrack. Donnie Darko for both.
Easily Marie Antoinette. I love pretty much every song on its soundtrack, and they always evoke such beautiful images from the film (a big plus).
I also frequently return to certain tracks from There Will Be Blood (as riveting as the film itself), Atonement, The Fountain (perhaps my favorite score), and The Painted Veil.

I'll tag along with those who love "The Hours" and will add, and recommend, that they listen to Nico Muhly's equally haunting score for "The Reader".
Those two are my current faves. As for soundtracks I'm all about the musicals, so "Cabaret", "Love Songs" and "Moulin Rouge!" are constantly blasting through my speakerphones.

I'm always listening to those tunes. Whether it's Ewan McGregor owning "Your Song", the darkness of "El Tango de Roxanne" or the two equally lovely versions of "Come What May".
and ALW's The Phantom of the Opera. I love Gerard Butler's rendition of "The Music of the Night" even though he got criticized like mad for his singing (which i never understood)
In addition, i love to have scores from Memoirs of a Geisha (ok movie, outstanding music) and the Hours (particularly the title track at the end) while i'm doing various forms of work..
...oh and I forgot to add Michael Nyman's score for "The Piano" (among many of his master works) which is so beautiful it makes me wanna fall in love with Harvey Keitel and move to 19th century New Zealand.
Wow! You have no idea how happy I am that so many people put The Hours! I've loved that soundtrack for years and years. It's everything great about Philip Glass without any of the cloying saxophones or flutes or what have you that always grate on the ears. There's also an all-piano version of the score that I found on Amazon MP3, and it's a nice little mix-up to the strings version.
Other scores that are excellent: Birth, The Terminal, Superman Returns, The New World, Far From Heaven, WALL•E, Atonement, Pride and Prejudice

The Third Man, hands down. Great to listen to if you're plotting intrigue.
It makes me soooo happy too to see many people mention The Hours. I thought I was alone on that one. Yay! It's hauntingly beautiful. Who knew minimalistic music can be so powerful? Philip Glass=Genius.
Apart from that I find the music in Out of Africa to be almost transcendental. It kind of 'takes me' to Africa.
I second the Sophia Coppola- sanctioned OSTs. The Almost Famous soundtrack also routinely brings out my inner 15 year old boy.
As for score, Jon Brion's tracks for Eternal Sunshine jump immediately to mind. Simplistic, yet sublime.
Schindler's List or Seven Years in Tibet or Lost in Rangoon.

I've been listening to the score for ATONEMENT quite a lot recently, and Liza's rendition of Maybe This Time from CABARET. But right now I'm listening to snippets of the KILL BILL Soundtrack.

In the last few days I have been listening to Slumdog Millionaire's soudtrack. But my favourite are The Hours and the theme from Tomas Crown's Affaire.
Stranger Than Fiction! getting Spoon to score it made the movie that much more badass

If you're making me select film scores rather than a feels-like-a-film telvision miniseries, then I probably pick out Playing By Heart and Portrait Of A Lady more than any others.
Far From Heaven is just luminously scored.
But I have to give some props to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button's score... it was by far the best part of the film, and it got me through much studying this past semester.
OH BROTHER WHERE ART THOU Mostly bluegrass and folk gospel songs on this soundtrack. And Alison Krauss is divine.
THE BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB absolute sheer joy from beginning to end.
SHORTBUS as well as HEADWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH
STRICKLY BALLROOM, this soundtrack is a blast..."don't be scared!"
And even though I don't have it, when ever I hear music from the original STARWARS, it makes me smile quietly to myself.

As much as I love Moulin Rouge! and High Fidelity, the one soundtrack I can never get enough of is for I Shot Andy Warhol. If you're not familiar, check it out. Jewel's version of "Sunshine Superman" is her best work EVER, no joke.

I really like the ambience of the scores of Fight Club, Michael Clayton, and United 93.
During my last year of uni I listened to the Ghost World theme tune over and over again. Also, Hilary and Jackie.
Not a lot of traditionalists out there, but chalk me up for the John Williams bandwagon (sorry, Nathaniel, but I think he earned a lot of those Oscars) - flip a coin between "Empire Strikes Back" and "Raiders of the Lost Ark", depending on what day you ask me.
For soundtrack, I adore the sense of fun and the anger in "Streets of Fire".
As much as I love the film, I have never really thought that "The Hours" had a great score. I will have to pick it up and give it a stand-alone listen.

"Dancer in the Dark". I tried to resist the first time I watched this (it seemed soooooo weird), but I found myself completely sucked in.
I suppose "I've seen it all" is simply the most brilliant song ever nominated for an Oscar. Isn't it?
I adore the soundtracks to Moulin Rouge!, The Rose, Hairspray, Cabaret, New York, New York, any Quentin Tarantino movie and The Who's Tommy (only the Ann-Margret tracks)
Scores are a bit trickier. Tara's Theme from Gone With the Wind can make me cry, so that's up there. Philip Glass is another one of my favorites. Howard Shore, Ennio Morricone, Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Herrmann.

Wong Kar Wai movies always have great soundtracks. I've recently been stuck on 2046, which isn't necessarily my favourite of his films, but the soundtrack is beautiful and lush and evokes so many different moods, it's great.
I love seeing all this love for The Fountain love too. I haven't actually seen the movie yet and it's still one of the loveliest scores I've listened to.
Joe Hisaishi's stuff for Miyazaki's films are also fun but mostly Princess Mononoke because it's got the most narrative, I think. Oh, and Yoko Kanno's Cowboy Bebop collections! Even though that's TV and not film, like you asked for.

I can't believe no one named "The Last Kiss" soundtrack. It's spectacular. Also "Grace Of My Heart" - little known but full of great tunes made for the movie. And, of course "Mamma Mia!" to get the blood pumping.
For scores the first thing that came to me was (obviously) "The Hours" but I'm a sucker for "Sophie's Choice" too! "La Vita E Bella" is gorgeous as are the themes to "The Bridges of Madison County" & "Angels In America"

I love the "Juno" soundtrack. Mott the hoople and cat power are the best. I also love the lullaby from my favorite movie "Pan's Labyrinth" and the piano songs from the horrible movie "The diving bell and the butterfly" is so incredible. Makes me want to learn the piano. And I also think the the soundtrack for "Amélie" is one of the best soundtracks ever.

For The Boys and The Hours
Currently I am listening to "Were the World Mine" soundtrack. addicting stuff.
"ONCE" ost is beyond perfection. I also listen a whole lot to "Shortbus", "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist", "Juno".
As for the score. I listen to "Painted Veil", "Brokeback Mountain", "Donnie Darko", "The Fountain". But I find "Pride and Prejudice" score really refreshing so I listen to it everyday.

i have made SO many cds of movie stars singing... usually the songs are very short since they don't really let those go on to long outside of musicals.
two favorites off the top of my head: juliette lewis singing "born bad" in NBK and mia farrow and jeff daniels on that "ukulele" in purple rose
Favourite people singing in non-musical movies....Jude Law singing some religious-with-a-gay-subtext song in Wilde. I also love Jason Schwartzmann's song at the end of Slackers, even if I'm aware that you have to actually sit through Slackers in order to get to it. And both musical numbers in Southland Tales are priceless, especially Teen Horniness Is Not A Crime.

I love that he keeps doing amazing work each time... (Have you listened to Chéri's OST?) I just hope he doesn't go lazy after a few failed attempts to win an Oscar (yes Thomas Newman I'm talking to you!)
By the way, I love Revolutionary Road's score too (although I know it is a rip-off of his score for Road to Perdition)
In TV, I think the show with the best soundtrack is Grey's Anatomy.
Their music picks are SO on the spot!

Jorge - Desplat's Chéri's score is lovely but as i've mentioned before I suspect it might get some bad reviews because they've made the odd choice to turn it up to "11" constantly throughout the film when it should be more of an underscore situation
I probably listen to Clint Mansell's 'Fountain' score every day of my life.
I also regularly listen to the 1998 'Great Expectations' score... cause it's beautiful. Trust me. Patrick Doyle. Check it out if you don't remember.
I still love the 'Forrest Gump' soundtrack. Epic. And what can I say? I still listen to the 'Titanic' score pretty frequently. A few seconds listening to that music makes me feel like I am in the back of a car (on a boat) wiping the steam from the back window... while... ... drool.
I listen to Dil Se quite a lot. First heard it on Inside Man and bought it and listen constantly.
The Big Chill stays in rotation from time to time.
Kissing Jessica Stein is a good one, but the movie soundtrack is far better than the CD that was released.

Or that the "Wag the Dog" soundtrack didn't feature the 303 song, the song about defendinding America's borders, or even "Old Shoe." I really liked that movie and thought those songs were such a treat.

I listen to some random soundtracks ever so often. I actually like Memoirs of a Geisha (I love strings--anyone know other good soundtracks that are string-heavy?). Crouching Tiger and Last Samurai too.
I also like Chronicles of Narnia too- don't judge me. At least the score part, not the random vocal tracks. I was actually looking forward to the sequel, only really for music purposes but when I saw it in theaters, it seemed that all the music was just rehashed and that made me angry. Therefore, I will not watch that movie ever again!
That and the movie isn't good in general...

I listen to Requiem for a Dream soundtrack more than the Fountain, but they both rank in the top ten of the decade, for sure.
Driving just after dark on the expressway last night, approaching the lights of downtown Cincinnati, I was humming the main credit theme from Carpenter's Assault on Precient 13.
He has written so many scores that I adore. (I still feel that the score to Halloween 3: Season of the Witch is terribly underrated.)
Soundtrack-wise, I can't stop listening to Garden State. Dismal movie, but the songs are absolutely amazing.
Score-wise, where do I start? The Assassination of Jesse James soundtrack is flawless. It's disgusting that Thomas Newman still doesn't have an Oscar, with Finding Nemo, Road to Perdition, The Shawshank Redemption, and Wall-E, 4 flawless scores.
What else?
The Pirates of the Caribbean score is amazing and, now, iconic; I can listen to that all day long. Has Klaus Bledt done anything since?
Finally, Michael Giacchino is by far the best new composer to the scene: LOST, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, and now Star Trek and Up? So good.
