First and Last 2

Here's the first post credits frame of a movie and the final pre-credits frame.

Can you guess the movie?
Highlight for the answer: This is Gun Crazy (also known as Deadly is the Female) with cinematography by Russell Harlan

It's been a while since I've seen the film but is this from Fritz Lang's You Only Live Once (1937)?

It is not. You're too early in cinema timeline.

Is it Deadly Female with that crazy gun toting female villain?

it is though i didn't even know the film was called that. I always assumed it was "Gun Crazy" but i guess it was originally "Deadly is the Female?"

this movie is too depressing for words... i don't think it's that popular though... dare I say remake?

Yes, Gun Crazy! I always get my film noir plots confused, but the one where they blow up the house at the end (with uranium or something?) is pretty hard to forget.

Katey, wouldn't that be "Kiss me deadly"?

I was way off on this one, and I'm even embarrassed to say it out loud....or out cyber.

I was thinking Wuthering Heights based on the final frame, but that doesn't seem right.

Much, much more difficult than the last one of these you did, Nathaniel. Keep up the good work! As a lover of a film's cinematography (above most anything else in a film's production), I enjoy these challenges.

It's GUN CRAZY - the opening frames show the main street where our young boy hero first breaks a window to steel a gun... the last is the friends of the guy, now dead (with girl) behind the center bunch of stalks - they're walking away from the scene, like Rick and Claude at the end of Casablanca....

Erich, you're such a freak. Go to sleep.

That looks like Gregory Peck in the last frame. Is it "Spellbound" by Hitchcock?

Me thinks it's VERTIGO!!!!

Jennifer Aniston, you obviously have never seen Vertigo.
