It's so weird to think that she could still be alive today. I feel the same way about Audrey Hepburn who would also be in her eighties... It's equally weird that my grandmother is still unbelievably fit and a good five years older than the divine miss Monroe. It would've been so strange to see her as an actress in the seventies or eighties, simply because Marilyn embodies her era and seems to exist only within that timeframe.
Stars like that are not meant to grow old.
I love when she wakes up in that scene in Niagara: hair, face, lipstick all perfect.
70's may have given us unprecedented realism in acting, but they killed screen gods and old Hollywood glamour.
happy birthday, MM. Who can't love her, actually?
Does Marilyn Monroe have a definitive film? Like, the ONE that everyone should watch? (All About Eve for Bette, The Lady Eve for Stany, etc).
Catherine -- Its totally debatable but she's certainly firing on all cylinders in Sone Like It hot
She's legitimately brilliant in The Misfits, I think. I adore her in that so much.
SOME LIKE IT HOT is quintessential.
But then again, her iconic images come from THE SEVEN YEAR ITCH (the whole skirt blowing in the street thing) and GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES (diamonds are a girls best friend)
