First and Last 6

[the black screen is accompanied by a gun shot]

Can you guess the movie?
Highlight for the answer: This is David Cronenberg's Videodrome.

Is it The Conversation?

Hmmm, interesting guess. You'll see why. But, no.

The Parallax View? Looks to be the right time period and I remember it ends with a murder.

any clues?

Well, it isn't either of those but you've got the vaguely right 'gets under your skin' type of feeling that certain movies give you. but you're both about a decade off.

The Terminator?

the Terminator is the right time frame. it's an auteur driven movie, and like glenn's guessed film, it practically makes a sinister character out of the technology involved.

the black screen is preceded by what's come to be the movie's most famous line.

I knew it was Canadian (or at least partially Canadian) because of that Molson Export stubby in the bottom centre of the frame. Of course, then I blanked...

????????

WTF

Not sure if the WTF comment was directed at me or not, but re-reading my comment I could definitely see how it might be...

The "stubby" I mentioned is the short and squat beer bottle in the bottom centre of the frame. You can make out part of the old Molson Export logon the side. So that's how I knew there was a Canadian component - but had no idea otherwise.

Fascinating, isn't it? B-)
