Bond = Bored

The Boyfriend is watching a James Bond thing on TCM. I don't know what it is about James Bond but I just am never excited about those movies. I've seen a good portion of the entire series but it just doesn't do much for me. Anyone else left cold by the uber successful franchise?

the only one that works for me is 'on her majesty's secret service' - mainly because diana rigg adds a touch of class and it's got a terrific ending.

the connery ones are fun in a campy way but the roger moore series stink (he's so unappealling).

haven't seen any of the latter day bonds.

It must be TNT or TBS or one of those "guy" channels.

I love the early Bonds. "OHMSS" is, oddly enough, the best in the series, even if George Lazenby's in it. The Roger Moore Bonds are very inconsistent; "The Man with the Golden Gun" and "The Spy Who Loved Me' are the best. (Trivia: What famous French film director admired "For Your Eyes Only" and cited it as one of the best films he had ever seen?) The modern ones are bleh.

Never really "got" Bond. Actually, it's worse than that; I think I probably do "get" Bond and yet simultaneously reject it.

My favourite ever Bond was Tomorrow Never Dies, which would still only warrant a 3/5, C-Grade in my eyes.

There were a couple I really liked at the time, but I haven't seen any in a while. All I can say is that there was a point when they all started to suck..intensely. I'm only fond of the Sean Connery movies. But again, it's been a while.

Nick: AMC, not TCM
Last night was On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which I'd never actually seen before. I just love the Bond movies for their campy sixties glamour. Those frocks are to die for!

I'm not generally a fan of the Bond movies, although I'll sit down to watch one with my husband now and then. I like Sean Connery for sentimental reasons because I grew up watching re-runs of his Bond films. I have to say, though, that Pierce Brosnan may actually be my all-time favorie Bond, if I have to choose one. My problem with the francise is it is too sexist. I have never particularly liked the way the films portray women.

I like 2 of the 7 or so that I've seen. Goldfinger and GoldenEye.

The World Is Not Enough was scratching the bottom...
