People come up to me and say, "Oh, I'm sorry you lost." What did I lose? I didn't lose anything. I didn't lose a thing.and this choice exchange...
NYT: As a graduate of Brown University do you think acting requires intelligence?Oh, Laura... you "wholesome scrubbed nice-girl" with a wicked sense of humor. In other Laura news. She's only received 1... (yes, only 1) vote in the Best Actress Psychic contest. No respect. She's even being directed by Richard Eyre (Iris, Notes on a Scandal) who has a way with getting his actors nominated. I guess y'all really took that 'once every four years' nomination comment to heart.
LL: No.

Laura Linney = A Class Act
Deborah Solomon = Clueless
Do you think Solomon was attempting to be humorous ? If so she failed.
"I guess y'all really took that 'once every four years' nomination comment to heart."
:whisper:and the next one will be for supporting:whisper:
Isn't Laura Linney great? She's like a reliable public stock investment.
I learned from last year (Anna Paquin and Catherine Keener, OUCH!) and I will wait until the last minute this time.
Aw, that's amazing. Such a classy lady.
But I think The Other Man will be the Neeson show, not that Eyre films haven't resulted in multiple acting nods in the past. Plus, Linney sounds supporting. And who knows? This could end up like Stage Beauty.
I like Richard Eyre a lot better when he's directing other people's screenplays. I thought Iris had a really weak script and I'm afraid to see what this one is like.
That obviously didn't stop them from nomination Dench, Winslet and Broadbent before, but the Academy may catch on to the fact that he's just not a screenwriter.
Deborah Solomon's schtick is be on the edge of rudeness the entire time, which I find distracting and unnecessarily focus-pulling. She also got in trouble recently for remixing her interviews to the point that the subjects felt misrepresented [link] I think that's why there's that extended caveat at the end of her pieces now.
Linney did very well, considering.
"You have a wholesome, scrubbed, nice-girl look".
Wut? How would you even respond to that? I mean, seriously.
Does acting require intelligence ?
No.
Does one necessarily need to be intelligent in order to make it in the movies ?
No.
Does one necessarily need to be intelligent to become a lawyer ?
No.
Poor Solomon tried way too hard to put Laura down. "Nice-girl look, you're not flashy, compared to other European actresses blablabla"
But Laura is so above any kind of criticism.
is it the NY Times ? If so they're losin' it.
"You have a wholesome, scrubbed, nice-girl look".
so many wonderful things L.L. has done already and yet it's mary ann singleton she remains most identified as.
Does one need to be intelligent to be President of the United States....
apparently, no.
So, Nat, will we be getting your Early Bird Predictions soon after the Best Actress deadline?
Who is conducting this interview? "IS DER GONNA BE BOOBS IN IT?", "DE FIRST PART WAS BORING AND HAD LOTS OF TALKING, IS DER GONNA BE MORE FIGHT SCENES IN DE NEXT ONE". Wtf kind of questions are these?
LL is great. I look forward to her future projects as she continues to dazzle in her subtle skills.
As alex cypher said, Solomon is always rude. It's sort of her schtick. I don't know why anyone ever agrees to be interviewed by her.
Laura Linney is pretty great right now as Abigail Adams in the new "John Adams" miniseries. Check her out in it.
Laura Linney is the distant cousin of Professor Dewey Wesley Grantham, Jr!
