FB Awards Conclude

Try to remain calm ;) The FB Awards are now complete. This is always so hard to do. In my mind all the nominees are winners. Only this time of the year do I suddenly feel for the Academy members and the difficult choices they have to make. Perhaps there should only be nominees? All that remains to wrap up last year's movie madness is the Oscars themselves.

Loved the Maria Bello's win!!!! She was amazing in A History of Violence... she was so robbed of taht Oscar nod.

I was very happy about Devos getting a medal, sad that Adams didn't also.

Well done Nath - great choices mostly all round!

Not a fan of Maria Bello's gold over Michelle Williams' silver - just because the former didn't get nominated and you wanted to somehow make up for it. Everyone knows that this year Williams' performance outclasses Bello's (but only just!). For me, it perhaps the finest performance of the year by a female.

Amir, Bello's snub had nothing to do with her Gold. She was always going to win it. I am CRAZY about her performance in that movie. Just tippity top notch. Stupid Academy

"Cachè" deserved more then one silver and one bronze! It's the real best of 2005! I totally agree with you about Maria Bello and "A history of violence".

Woo-hoo! Two medals for Ralphie!

Now bring on those actors of the aughts.

PS: I just saw a couple of scenes from Almodóvar's "Volver" and it seems really great - can this be ANOTHER hit for the Spanish auteur? So excited about 2006.

Best. FB. Awards. Evar. This very much makes up for the uninspiring awards shows and Oscar nominations of late.

I especially love all the acting wins (hurrah for Bello and Ledger, who would be my picks as well!). We also agree on Best Director - I was hoping that Cronenberg would trump Lee.

*applause*

A brilliant read as ever. Great for Brokeback, Cronenberg, Allen and Heath :)

I haven't seen Emmanuelle Devos but am intrigued now.

Great read through. Some intriguing award-getters there, but mostly I can't argue with them (some I really can't cause I haven't seen the films).

I really thought Reese would take the silver for some reason. Also thought Amy Adams would get the silver in her category. Smelled the Lee loss, though. Sad considering he also lost to Von Trier with you in 2000. I missed aHoV sadly... I have to see it as soon as I can.

So happy that Brokeback has been such a success everywhere, including here.

A History of Violence isn't out here until the Thursday before the Oscars (same with Match Point and one other I can't remember) so you really have no excuse, Adam! (as in, it's been out for you since August). Have I mentioned how much i despise Australia destributers - The Constant Gardener was originally set for November 2006 release. That's funny, right? RIGHT!!!?

I don't even thing Kings & Queen and Caché have release dates here at all. I know Junebug doesn't and that's sort of a crime, right?

lol, I thought Reese would get silver too.
