It's even sadder to me to see how strong she was in pre-Woody supporting work, like in Barcelona and in Quiz Show, where she came across so intelligently and with such charisma on screen. She's copped in recent years to being pretty attitude-y after her Oscar, which can't have helped. (Her did-nothing-with-a-nothing-role turn in Reservation Road can't really have helped, either.)

She was approached last season about a stint on Dancing with the Stars but apparently objected on the grounds that her career would be construed as otherwise "over." And though she was right to point out the double-standard that only actors on that show (not the musicians or athletes, for example) are perceived this way... it's hard not to feel like "no publicity is bad publicity" at this point for her.

I can't believe I have this much to say about Mira Sorvino.

i agree it seems some stars just won't get themselves back in the limelight due to their career being seen as over it is a healthy warning sorvino's downward spiral to starletts such as kirsten dunst, scarlett johansson, brittany murphy, lindsey lohan etc just ow fickle fame can be although marisa tomei is someone to look at for keeping her career resurgence afloat and doing varied and interesting work even if tomei win was one of the worst who could deny her a comeback and in a great role.

Summer of a Sam! Brilliant and underrated movie (and alas, probably her last good one, too).
