Happy Birthday Angel

If you think at all like me, you probably think that this former enfant terrible is going to win an Oscar someday (they love their Hollywood royalty and/or sex kittens making good, even when they've never really been thought of as an actor with a capital A).

My three favorite performances of Drew's in descending order? Scream (96) no really I do mean that horror cameo as her best performance, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle (03) no really -- I mean that sequel, yes. And for her third most favored trick I don't know... Never Been Kissed(99), The Wedding Singer(98)? I don't know. Donnie Darko(01). It's an undecided. I want her to really kick it up a notch soon though, before people lose interest.

What about E.T.? Does that not count? She was fab in that movie, and was only like 6 or something.

For me her top three performances are in the movies: Riding In Cars with Boys, Scream and 50 First Dates.

Scream has one of the best 10 min openings of any horror movie and any movie in general. She was fantastic in that. We actually felt what she was feeling and we wanted her to get out alive.

and as an added bonus? Michelle Pfeiffer sites it as a performance she loves and one that helped her in her work on What Lies Beneath.

Ah, yeah, Drew WAS good in 50 First Dates.

I still stand by the E.T. love, though.

What year was Scream released? Can we see some FB awardage for best cameo and/or best opening sequence?

Scream was 1996, I could sprout inumerable minute details about that film considering I was obsessed with that trilogy until about April 2001, but I will save you all the trouble.

But, yes, her opening scene in Scream is, i think, not only the best horror film opening, but one of the best opening scenes from any movie. There is not one thing to fault.

(here i go again, so I'll stop)

I am also a big fan of her work in Donnie Darko (big things come in small packages x2) and... i dunno. Probably the ORIGINAL Charlie's Angels. Apart from those two small parts she has never had a performance that blew me away. She needs to go into indie movies.

50 First Dates was one of my bottom 3 movies of last year. I couldn't believe what I was watching.

I didn't care much for the film as a whole, but Drew did make me laugh. She was very cute. Probably not one of her best performances, though.

I think, actually, it's getting a little late for Drew to win an oscar. She's the kind of starlet/child of Hollywood who would've won a supporting actress oscar in her 20's for being cute and sexy, a la Kate Hudson if she had won. I can't really see her getting one when she's older, unless it becomes like a Lauren Bacall kind of thing (except wait, she didn't actually win either... hmm...)

I think she is a bad actress, she is cute though

From what I remember, she was fantastic in Ever After!

I am obsessed with the Scream trilogy also. It's genius. And yes, Drew is great in the first ten minutes, but by far the most over-paid actress around.

What about "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind"? Doesn't her performance in that movie earn a top spot or is it just me? This is kind of shameful, but I also have always loved her performance in "Irreconcilable Differences", which is a quintessential 80s nugget if there ever was one!

Yes Yes Yes she wuz amazing in Scream. and I totally forgot about her magnificent performances in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind and Ever After. Okay...so now my list changes in the best performances of Drew Barrymore: 1. Riding In Cars with Boys 2. Scream (which Nathaniel should put in his 1996 FB Awards and put Drew as a Best Supporting Actress contender) 3. Ever After 4. Never Been Kissed and 5. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

Never saw Confessions personally. Just seemed to slip through my movie-viewing cracks.

How thankful am I that Kate Hudson lost the Oscar. She shouldn't have even been nommed let alone win. Crazy.
