Sayonara. The one with Marlon Brando in it. It was OK.

Terminator, Shawshank Redemption, Terms of Endearment, Alien and strangely, When Harry Met Sally and/or Steel Magnolias. I always feel I have to watch until she dies.

oooooh i got the question wrong hhahaha. Anyway.

Whenever I see "Ever After" on cable, I just could not stop myself from watching it. I just have to finish it, no matter the time. Damn.

It's Drew Barrymore's fault. Everything in that film was just so addicting: actors, costumes, dialogue. And now, whenever I watch it, I can say most of the lines. Heck I think I can even the right the screenplay! I memorized them, something I did due to multiple viewings.

Deep Impact. I get drawn into the melodrama, start blathering on about how much better it is than Armageddon, and can't look away until Elijah has safely avoided global carnage by cycling to the top of a hillock.

since it always seems to be on cable,

SERENDIPITY.

Stop judging me!

I just love the cheesy romantic notion of fate and love being intertwined. The last third of the movie where the different pieces come together to reunite the lovers is just magical. It's surprisingly one of very few movies which manages to make me swoon.

Blast From The Past, Pleasantville, Deep Impact, Blue Streak, Dirty Work, White Palace, and ugg Corina, Corina. Late Night Cable Viewing has such a different standard than Regular Viewing.

Meet Me In St. Louis, no matter how late it is this movie will keep me up. I just love Ma Kettle as their maid Katie, she's a riot!

I usually just try to avoid all movies when I'm about to go to bed, but I remember this 4th of July I ran into the beginning of The Philadelphia Story and watched til the end. It's Hepburn, Grant and Stewart for crying out loud! As kids practically!

Network is one I always stop to watch though no matter how late. First you have to stay up to see "I'm mad as hell," then to see "You have meddled with the forces of nature," and then all of the other goodies until the end of the madness.

Curiously enough... «Insomnia».

I don't know why but here in Portugal I must have seen that movie 5 ou 6 times in the past two years and it always begins late at night...

Almost any musical. Mostly West Side Story or 7 Brides for 7 Brothers.

The Devil Wears Prada.
It's shame-making, but true.
I wait for the Meryl moments and end up watching all of it.

"Pump up the Volume", "The Craft", or the infomercial for the Magic Bullet.

Most recently Death Becomes Her, Blade II and Catwoman. Sunday is my best/worst night for "I just have to stay up and watch this" viewing.

Major League, if only for the scene where Ricky Vaughan (Charlie Sheen) stomps out of the bullpen accompanied by the "Wild Thing" song.

Gosford keeps me up everytime. I have it on DVD, but everytime I watch it I rewind, so when it's TV I can't rewind so I pretend I don't know what's going to happen and I have to pay extra attention...and it's just so damn good too, who could resist?

Andrew K. said...

Okay so obviously I meant Gosford Park...

well, "The Truman Show" was on last night at like 1:30 on TBS so I guess that.

For some reason, I have always been attracted to watching You've Got Mail whenever it is on TV. It's kinda a problem.

Branden said...

I would stay up for "Shawshank Redemption". Oh, yeah!

Wayne B said...

Apparently Sleepy Hollow for me, stayed up super-late watching it last night and am now paying for it today. I ended up being late today but the combination of Depp, Ricci, Richardson and Walken was too much to resist.

ironjohn for sure. the rest of the movie doesn't get enough credit.

and "A Room With A View"

I agree with the Snow White one, that is quite creepy.

1961's Homicidal, William Castle's wild answer to Psycho, is a great "what the hell is this?" movie to stumble across in the middle of the night.
