Woman Under The influence.Which means you need to start getting some gena Rowlands in your actress vocabulary. A miracle of a performance is not even a decent way to describe this.

Gena Rowlands in this movie: BEST. PERFORMANCE. EVER.

AND I MEAN IT!

Think Isabelle Adjani in The Story of Adele H., Maria Falconetti in The Passion of Joan of Arc, Liv Ullmann in Scenes of a Marriage, Emily Watson in Breaking the Waves, Giulietta Masina in La Strada - every single performance acclaimed as best performance ever CAN'T beat Rowlands in this movie.

It's not just a miracle - it's nirvana. And then you think she had three os four performances almost this marvelous (Opening Night, Love Streams, Gloria) and you realize she's not only landed the best performance ever. She IS the best actress ever.

I've watched this movie half a dozen times (I own it) and I never quite get why folks believe it's the best performance ever. In the galaxy. Bar none. Forever.

I think Gena is the goddess in Gloria: SHE is the man!

Any person who can reasonably claim to give a better performance than Faye Dunaway in Chinatown and Ellen Burstyn in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore brought their fuckin'-A game.
