Emma Stone Gets an Easy A

Molly Ringwald in Sixteen Candles. Winona Ryder in Heathers. Alicia Silverstone in Clueless. Reese Witherspoon in Election. Lindsay Lohan in Mean Girls. Ellen Page in Juno. You're already smiling reading the list. Is there anything quite as sparkly as a breakthrough actress in a high school comedy? This weekend a shimmering new student transfers in to Movie High.

In Easy A, a new comedy from first time feature screenwriter Bert V. Royal and Fired Up! director Will Gluck, good student Olive (Emma Stone) shares a first person account of how she pretended to be promiscuous for the notoriety and novelty of it. In so doing, she rapidly goes from anonymous loner to the center of a social hurricane...

I'll try to say more about the actual movie itself tomorrow. [Helpful obvious hint: Emma Stone is way > than the Movie.]

Nice write-up! If you wanted to make us desperate to see her/it you have one point :p

A smart, scheming highschooler? Gimme some!

Rachel McAdams is a thousand times greater in Mean Girls than Lilo, but I'm dying to see Easy A!

Did you forget about Anne Hathaway's breakthrough in The Princess Diaries?

You review has piqued my interest.

Nat! I need to know! How was Amanda Bynes. I know you weren't a fan of hers in She's the Man, and truthfully, to me, it seems this performance could easily be an embarrassment, but I really hope she brought her "A" game and a big career is in her future. I can't let go of All That.

Though I plan to form my own opinion this weekend, I wanna know. HOW WAS SHE?!

Jay -- i liked amanda bynes in it. i think she understands the tone for this comedy pretty well (two of her fellow performers who are also famous, though. eeek. the badness of their acting). The movie is uneven but boy is EMMA shiny.

Looking forward to Easy A. I don't think it will join the Pantheon of teen comedies with the likes of Mean Girls for example, but it should be a really big stepping stone for Emma Stone
