Gimme Basterds

.

JA from MNPP here, dipping my big toe (foot-fetish, how appropriate) into the waters of QT devotion here at The Film Experience. Quentin Tarantino's seventh film, Inglorious Basterds, opens on Friday and I find myself so excited I can hardly stand it. Way back at the start of the year we voted this movie #1 on our "We Can't Wait!" list for 2009, and for me it's pretty much remained way up tippy-top. I know some have waffled in their devotions after the buzz was mixed from Cannes and QT cut a bunch out and then the alternately silly and violent trailer turned some folks off... well silly and violent is pretty much my bag, so it only made me even more enthused.

Plus I realized the other day that I love every single movie Tarantino has ever made. Love. Yes even - especially - Death Proof.

But I thought we might gauge the passion you people are feeling. Because it's all for you, after all! So tell me how you're feelin', love.

I ABSOLUTELY CAN NOT wait for this to come out. "that I love every single movie Tarantino has ever made. Love." completely agree with you on that one. "Jackie Brown" is my favourite movie of all time!

Nazi doesn't have a "t" in it.

It does the way Brad Pitt says it, anon.

after seeing the movie you won't be spelling Nazi any other way... at least for the moment.

JA... i know. the poll results are so funny.

I love Death Proof too. I saw the whole Grindhouse double header traveling roadshow extravaganza the weekend it came out and loved the whole thing - I was so sure that it would be a huge phenomenon and I was getting in on the ground floor early.

This turned out not to be the case.

But why? Man, it's one of the best times I ever had at the movies.

Now, I love "Pulp Fuction", "Jackie Brown", and "Reservoir Dogs" and like most of "Death Proof" but this movie looks a little dumb. I'm gonna watch it with an open-mind and kinda low expectations so hopefully I'll like it. Brad Pitt looks dumb in the commercials, especially Hitler. But it is Quentin Tarentino.

I'm pretty excited - especially after I found out that this is playing at the drive-in near me. Any movie with that much spectacle is great at the drive-in - plus, I can cackle gleefully throughout the movie without disturbing all the other patrons.

Oh a drive-in! I'm so jealous! I wish there was a drive-in near me. Even though I don't have a car.

I don't have the anticipation that I had for Kill Bill or Death Proof (which I ended up not seeing until months after the DVD was relesead), but I'm looking forward to Inglorious Basterds this weekend. Wow, hard to believe it's been five years since I've seen a Tarantino film in the theaters. What kind of "fan" am I?!

That said, I LOVE every film of Tarantino's except for Reservoir Dogs. Pulp Fiction is still my all-time favorite film.
