First and Last ~the first image after the opening credits and the last image before the closing credits.

Can you guess the movie? The Oscar winning cinematography is by Joseph Ruttenberg. The film won 6 Oscars in the 40s.

Highlight for the answer: MRS MINIVER (1942). You can read a lot more about this movie here.

I first thought Hitchcock, but then it hit me that it is William Wylers Oscar winner Mrs. Miniver.

You stumped me Nat. These other folks are freaks of nature!

I was going with Hitchcock at first. Then the only thing I could guess is that it has to be War movie set in England. (the blown out roof in the last frame, and the double dutch bus in the first). That's as far as I got though.

I didn't recognize the first picture, but I instantly knew the last. How I love the wartime propaganda that is Mrs. Miniver. And don't get me started on my love for Greer Garson...

It was the first picture that for some reason had me think Hitchcock but then the other picture whispered Mrs. Miniver to me... I had to check my DVD of the film first to see if I was right though :D

I have never watched this movie but for some reason I guessed it too.
I deduced it was a WWII movie, and since you see a bombed house, and with the first frame, I thought, "could it be London or something?", and since it's in B&W, I thought of that movie.
Because it's just so famous a movie to include those elements, I guess.
