I cannot put in words how much I love Julianne's performance as Amber Waves.
The foxiest bitch in the whole wide world and one of the best performances ever put on screen.

Best Supporting Actress of the 90's!

Nathaniel, your unwavering support of my favourite movie is commendable. Are you a fan of the whole film or just Moore's performance?

Now that i think about it, a sequel to Boogie Nights would be really interesting.

I see Dirk Diggler basically becoming Ron Jeremy. Out of shape and a reality TV personality who used to famous for his big...um, Dirk. He'll be a "star" indeed who suffers from delusions of grandeur.

I just see nothing positive when it comes to Amber Waves. She was just too self-destructive. I don't see her on good terms with her kid at all and i don't see her really cleansed of her former life. But that's probably just me.

What a great film and a great actress. Ah, the sequel to Boogie Nights would be a bunch of ex porn stars in recovery.

My top 5 Supporting Actresses for 1997 (since a couple people have done it):

Kim Basinger (L.A. Confidential)
Joan Cusack (In & Out)
Anne Heche (Wag the Dog)
Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights)
Sigourney Weaver (The Ice Storm)

Laugh all your want, but I love Cusack and Heche in those films. On a side note, wouldn't have been fun to see Glenn Close get a blockbuster nomination for "Air Force One"? It's so bad, but she's great in everything, and I think that would have been hilarious.

alex... anybody who would laugh about Anne Heche being a fine actress has only paid attention to the tabloid craziness of her career.

she is.

though in 1997 i'd have nominated her for Donnie Brasco instead of Wag the Dog

my list might look like this:

BASINGER - LA Confidential
HECHE - Donnie Brasco
MOORE - Boogie Nights (winner)
POSEY - Waiting for Guffman
RICCI - Ice Storm

(give or take CUSACK, O'HARA or WEAVER)
