Did Somebody Ask a Question?

15. "Ovaltine?"

14. "They shoot horses, don't they?"

13. "Where does it say you can't kill a cop?"

12. "...where shall I go, what shall I do?"

11. "Heavy. What is it?"

10. "What do you wanna do tonight?"

9. "I dunno, Angie. What do you wanna do?"

8. "Who's the best pilot you ever saw?"

7. "Who's with me?"

6. "Who are those guys?"

5. "Just what do you think you're doing Dave?"

4. "What have I done?"

3. "Is it safe?"

2. "Are you a good witch or a bad witch?"

1. "You talkin' to me?"

13. Michael Corleone (Al Pacino) in The Godfather.

And how about number 14? Just kidding. Yep, that's Michael and no one can give him a sufficient answer so it's bye bye corrupt Police Captain Sterling Hayden.

This is all I've got... mostly guesses.

15. Cloris Leachman (but that's just 'Ovaltine')
14. Jane Fonda
13. Al Pacino
12. Vivian Leigh (but that's 'wherever/whatever)
11. John Travolta
9. John Travolta
5. Hal 9000
3. Lawrence Olivier
2. Billie Burke
1. Robert DeNiro

kingroper - Oops, thanks for the correction on Young Frankenstein. However, I double checked GWTW and it's "where shall I go, what shall I do?"

11 and 9 aren't Travolta. Think Bogie and Borgnine.

SPOILER WARNING

Close on 14. Michael Sarrazin delivers the line to the cops after he kills her. Full dialogue:

Policeman: Why'd you do it, kid?

Robert: Because she asked me to.

Policeman: Obliging bastard. Is that the only reason you got, kid?

Robert: They shoot horses, don't they?

END SPOILERS

Nice job.

Greg said...

Just to clarify - When I say, "think Bogie" on 11, he doesn't actually say it. But he answers with one of the most famous lines in movie history.

4. Jack Skellington?

It's probably not correct, but it ain't wrong either. :P

It's probably not correct, but it ain't wrong either. Nice.

#4 - Think Japanese POW camp, WWII, British Colonel.

Nate Tyson said...

dang. I totally meant 14.

Greg said...

No you got it, 13 is The Godfather - I was joking about someone guessing 14 because the question itself is the title of the movie.

9 is Borgnine in Marty.

Nate Tyson said...

yeah...that second time...I meant to say...

oh hell.

4. Alec Guinness - Bridge on the River Kwai (even though it feels cheap guessing it now)

Robert said...

#10 is quite clearly from Pinky and the Brain.

14. A Christmas Story

Greg said...

Lulu - And ten's the first part delivered by his friend, so I probably should've just lumped those two together.

Greg said...

Nate - Kwai it is.

Stephen - Ha. Nice interpretation.

If number 9 is Borgnine from Marty, then number 10 must be Joe Mantell in Marty.

Either that or it's one of the vultures in the Jungle Book (a-ha Disney)

Sorry - not reading all the comments - missed the answer.

But no-one seems to have Paul Newman from Butch Cassidy in number 6.

#8 is obviously Starbuck (Katee Sackhoff). Or should be.

Greg said...

Don't tell that to Gordo Cooper.

Greg said...

Ben - you got 'em both right.

Greg said...

Robert - Ah, Pinky and the Brain. Ever see the Orson Welles Frozen Peas takeoff?

Colin Low said...

tim:

Couldn't #6 also be Robert Redford from the same film? I recall that line being the most obviously "written" in the Superposse chase sequence.

Did no one still get #11? The Maltese Falcon.

Greg said...

Colin - yeah, they both say it.

jandy - Yep, The Maltese Falcon. The answer to the question: "The stuff dreams are made of."

I think that just leaves number seven. Delivered in German by Klaus Kinski.

As to #7 - the first one I thought of was John Belushi in "Animal House", but I guess that the other one you hint at is "Aguirre: The Wrath of God".

Greg said...

Carl - yeah, I was referring to "Aguirre" but I guess it could apply to Belushi too if I remember correctly. You get a double gold star.

#3: Gandalf, The Fellowship of the Ring? Probably not, but I think it still qualifies.

Are we not even bothering guessing #1 or #2 because they're too obvious?

I also think #11 could be Marty McFly when he first sees the time machine in Back to the Future part one.

Greg said...

#3 is Olivier in "Marathon Man." And you're right, Marty McFly does say that doesn't he? Must've been an homage to "Taxi Driver."
