Easy Money, Wanted

Is Angelina Jolie's salary for Wanted the easiest paycheck anybody in Hollywood ever got? The actress commands $15-20 million a picture now. She spends most of Wanted's running time standing and staring at James McAvoy. Correct me if I'm wrong but he ain't hard to look at. It has to be the easiest money ever made. I mean, apart from Marlon Brando's $1 million Superman cameo 30 years ago. Or the astronomical salaries they pay A-Listers for voicework on animated films when they don't even have to come up with a new character voice.

I voted yes what a joke; but I wanted to add, that I would never begrudge an actress for getting as much money as possible from a studio. Good for her.

Well the movie did just pull in a reported $51 million this weekend. I haven't seen it yet, but she was heavily featured in all the marketing. Seems like money well spent to me.

money well spent does not counteract that notion that it's money easily earned ;)

I think for this movie, she was worth it. Paying her 10-15 for Mighty Heart when it didn't even make 10 in theatres? That wasn't. But I agree with Alex. Good for her and the other actresses who can command money from studios. Even if they arn't sometimes worth it.

I read that she kept asking for her lines to be cut. Seeing it, it is better that the camera looks at her just doing something rather than engaging in the regular-fatuous action dialogue.

And man, that woman is working her butt off in that picture. She makes those action sequences look realistic (!) - or at least, still emotionally grounded- and have a point. The amount of technique, energy, and skill involved is enormous. She does this still maintaining the emotional presence of the character.

Without her, the movie wouldn't catch fire. She provides the heady wish fulfillment and eventual sort-of-deeper meaning. Because of her, the movie will make pots more money, so yes, I think she deserves a share of the loot, even though she'll probably go blow most of it on charitable causes for kids.

I agree with Alex, basically. She's worked hard to get where she is, and now it's time for the payoff. Acting is not easy work.

I guess I should clarify. I don't think acting is easy work either. But this is the simplest performance I can recall her ever giving. there's not much to it past looking sexy and staring.

What did you expect Nathaniel ? Her big role this year is the grieving mother in Changeling, not the sexy bad-ass from Wanted.

She coasts on charisma, that's all, she was not looking for a deep, multi-layered character.

I don't recall you saying that about Will SMith, and he's paid even more than she is

the difference being that I rarely talk about Will Smith. ;)

I L-O-V-E Angelina. But this is the most coasting I've ever seen her do. Fun sure, but my god she could do this in her sleep. I was just saying is all...
