I personally never liked him, that's why I'm so meh about Benjamin Button ( Tilda could save it if she's in for more than just 5sec.)
I still don't see how Button could ever be a major best picture player. At best, it would be like an Edward Scissorhands: great, but far too quirky, bizarre, and subtlely disturbing to get major awards play. I suppose Pitt could make it in, simply because he's Brad Pitt and is so overdue for a lead nod, it's ridiculous, but beyond that, I don't see much except a few tech nods. Maybe Cate or Taraji. But I'm not feelin' it.
But also, how exciting that Tilda is costarring with Brad in both of these! That seems like such an inspired combination.
i see it being huge,i see it as his year,in supp he may win!!!!
Ugh, I hate it when buff actors deflate. Brad looks good, but where's the muscle? Don't these guys know that average guys everywhere would kill for the opportunity to have a personal trainer/nutritionist 24/7 to get them into Troy-esque shape and then kill someone else to maintain that? - Adam
He didn't really deflate so much as go back to normal. The Troy body must've taken hours at the gym EVERY day. He probably got bored of it.And remember how skinny he was back in Thelma & Louise? He actually still has a lot more meat on him than he used to.
Both films look like the SHIT!
I love that trailer for Burn After Reading. "I thought you might be concerned...about the security...of your shit." Brilliant. Also brilliant? That little half-smile that Tilda Swinton does when they go through all the actors near the end of the trailer. And Brad Pitt's dance on the treadmill. This one might even make it to mid-Ohio, so hooray!
Hey, did I briefly glimpse Julia Ormond in the Button trailer? That's so great that she's still getting work, and a reunion with Pitt is a reminder of the glory days of Legends when it looked for all the world as though she'd become a huge star.Rob
I see Button being Forrest Gump kind of big. Its an epic movie. (I heard the budget was around 185 mil.) I can't wait to see it. Probably one of the best trailers I've ever seen. And watch it a couple of times and you will see things you wouldn't have noticed...(I probably would have noticed this, but I was too excited to see the trailer but like at the end when Blanchett is old, and walking down the street, she's walking with Brad as a baby....) I have high hopes for this.
But Adam, he's not ridiculously overdue for a lead actor nomination. What has he done that deserves one?
I always get that darned quote wrong: it's not "concerned"; it's "worried." I still love that line.
What's not to love? That belabored, over-enunciated "southern" accent (I admit I haven't sat through the entire Button trailer. That accent did me in at the outset.) On the other hand I've been waiting for days for you to post the Burn trailer Nat (I knew it would show up eventually.) That one I've watched several times and it makes me giddy. Brad playing a dumb spaz, looking looser than he has since "Thelma and Louise"? McDormand, Clooney (I love the bit about "the back of the car, not a rear-entry situation), Swinton and Malkovitch together in a Cohen Bros comedy? I am SO there.
