Yes!... Definitively my kind of unconventional and intense beauty.

Hey Cate-

Tilda Swinton called. She wants her underarm back.

God, I love that shot! Its another moment to add to her 'Iconic Movie Moments Scrapbook' which is already bursting at the seams.

Over at the envelope Pete Hammond talked to a member of the actors branch of the academy who's seen the film, saying both Cate and Tilda hit it out of the park. Though people seem to think that the only way for Blanchett to get nommed is if Button sweeps the board. And Tilda hasn't even been mentioned by anyone. Does everyone here rate their chances?

On another note, i can't wait to see them doing the red carpet rounds together on the Button publicity tour, to see how their obsessive fanboys (like myself)react.

anon whoever you are... i think the reason more people aren't caught up in their chances is that the film doesn't seem like an "actor's film" from far away. We shall see.

also, contrary to popular early prediction beliefs the oscars still aren't the emmys and it would be highly unusual for TILDA & CATE to both be in play again the year after they fought it out for supporting actress ;)

that's my take at least. I'm sticking with my TARAJI prediction just because i was proud of myself for thinking of it way back when... (and i love her short bits in the trailer) but I wouldn't be surprised if, even if it garners the most nominations, it gets shut out of the acting categories altogether

Nathaniel, do you think Cate will be pushed supporting in BB? I can't imagine them campaigning her supporting because she could cancel out Henson and/or Swinton -- but I've read the script and I would definitely say she is supporting.

At the moment the studio sees Blanchett as LEAD not SUPPORTING, after all on the official site its both Brad and Cate's names that are toplining the page, suggesting that they might be co-leads. I think its going to be a Reese Witherspoon in Walk the Line/Jennifer Connelly in A Beautiful Mind situation. And like you said I don't think they 'd want to shoot down Henson and Swinton's chances, by putting Blanchett in the same category as both of them. Besides, she's been nommed and won in the supporting category enough, it's time for an upgrade.
