and my final predictions (if you haven't seen them or have a very bad memory). I'm starting to lean Departures for foreign and Sean Penn for Actor but I'm not going to tinker at this point. I'll just let it play out.

I'm also starting to think that it's Departures-The Class and Waltz with Bashir are so non-Oscar, and non-Oscar hasn't won Foreign Film lately (look at the snubs for films like Pan's Labyrinth, in favor of a more "traditional" Oscar film). I don't really have an opinion on who wins this one quite yet, however, as I have yet to see any of these (Waltz & Class are on the docket for the next week).

I'm surprised Meryl won... by 1%, but still.

Meryl? I'm surprised at Amy frakkin' Adams. By a lot more than 1%. Weird.

I am not surprised at Adams as much as I am at notCruz. I thought her VCB perf is loved unconditionally by majority of the readers here. (Not by me, though, so that result made me happy!)

why streep tell me hammy and uneven!!

OK! OK! I ADMIT! :(((
I ACCIDENTALY voted for Angelina Jolie (though she's the least deserving of the 5!!!) and couldn't change my vote. I myself would've voted for Meryl!

But come on. who are those 80 people who voted Frost/Nixon? :P

oh, yeah.

And don't forget to check the Supporting Actress Smackdown over at
http://www.stinkylulu.com

that's where I also justify my Amy love :D

If I didn't have a feeling that Academy voters have a real problem appreciating Asian performers, I might lean Departures too. None of the other nominees scream oscar winner to me- except maybe Baader Meinhoff Complex. That's my prediction.

Nate,
Glad to hear you're leaning to Sean Penn for Actor...I would *love* that to happen
Would you care to elaborate on those thoughts?

There is an upset in the works...I can feel it! Penn wouldn't be an upset...but would surprise at this point...he's almost conceded it to Rourke already.

But...Melissa Leo? Amy Adams? That would be shocking wouldn't it?

I dunno. Something feels a buzz in the universe and I can't put my finger on it.
