Some thoughts on Chéri (it's finally open!) and My Sister's Keeper are over at my weekly column at Towleroad. Feel free to comment there if you'd like. I've been accused of being "highbrow" for my lack of interest in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. If mistrusting Michael Bay means I'm highbrow I plead "GUILTY as charged" I mean... robots who speak jive?
As for Chéri and My Sister's Keeper, I'll have more on both of those movies up in the next couple of days. Stay tuned.

In this case "highbrow" must mean having taste.
I just don't understand why people would want to watch "My Sister's Keeper". It looks like a tearjerker of epic proportions. Even the previews just look painful.
Okay here I am staying tuned. I love the banner you have up. I think it's my favourite since the one with the sunglasses.
yeah, i love the theme too. i was supposed to change my pic today to reflect it, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow.
and regarding "Transformers", i swear, i'm the only one i know who could honestly care less about the movie...and i just know i'm going to be dragged to see it with my friends. ugh. One was enough for me, thank you very much.
if my lack of interest in "Transformers", makes me seem highbrow, snobby, elitist or whatever word applies, then i wear it as a badge of honor. Hopefully, i can redeem that badge of honor for a "get out of seeing Transformers free" card.
"My Sister's Keeper" looks stupid. Just because its about cancer I'm suppose to cry. Just because it deals with a heavy subject I'm supposed to be touched and feel that the film is heartfelt? Looks a little cheesy to me. Not interested. The transformers looks terrible. Loud and flashy and seems way to long for a action film that's not trying to be a great movie.
boy, if a lack of interest in a Transformers movie is considered "high-brow" these days ... my, how the cultural landscape has slipped that much further down the artistic toilet.
I don't like to bring these things up, but when I went to see "Up," Cartoon Network advertised that it was no longer a cartoon channel but a reality channel. So, yeah about the cultural landscape slipping down the toilet...agreed. I can't watch Discovery or the History Channel anymore.
don't care on "transformer" is a clue of good taste!
From your own comments on Towelroad:
"my ass also loves robots"
Fascinating image, thanks Nat.
As you say Cheri is muddled but Pfeiffer's great in it, and the closing moments are oscar worthy in themselves. Not sure if it will generate enough traction to last all year.
Can't wait to see The Hurt Locker over here.
Staying tuned for more of your thoughts on Cheri. Haven't seen it yet but I will tonight.
I have seen My Sister's Keeper though and I couldn't believe my eyes. the only purpose of it was to make people cry. Thank God it was a free preview, would've pissed me off to pay money to see that.
Great banner!
Haha, yeah I think I'll be skipping the robots who speak jive....I trust Ebert way too much to go and spend money on that film.
Saw Cheri .. predict Michelle will not get an Oscar nod for this one!
