I Take Requests (on Mondays)

I take requests. [Well, within reason. And only when I'm so moved.] As we thankfully move out of Oscar season... (I am soooo ready to do so) which movie topic do you most want to see addressed? It's a honest question from your writer/editor/guru of The Oscar Film Experience.

So each Monday morning the first post of the day will respond to one requested question/topic/theme from the week before. This new feature will start next Monday, so request away in the comments (no Oscar topics please). Maybe I'll choose yours.

[For Oscar junkies: My final thoughts on this year's season will be up soon at the main site.]

i know this is like dancing a jig while you're at a funeral, but when do april fools' predictions come up?

talk about music or something random like that. Your thoughts on today's popular artists? Your favorite bands/artists/CDs?

That's nice and non-oscary.

Yeah, I definitely would like a break from film for a bit. Music or theater would be welcome discussion topics- favorite perfomances, artists, concerts, plays, musicals...whichever (if any of these) strikes your fancy :).

Talk more about the Rufus concert at Carnegie Hall.

I'd love it if you continued your Top 100 Actors of the 00's countdown.

I'd love if you started your Personal Cannon again and maybe did a Tarantino piece or Milos Forman.

I would like to see a piece on rap in film. What with DC's Block Party and Three 6 winning, I think a nice little historical look may be in order.

Or maybe that just wouldn't appeal to most readers of the site.

actors you'd like to see get a jumpstart in their career or those that have fallen off the radar despite once working often and in worthwhile projects. might make for some interesting polls and discussion, and wishful thinking.

There have been many lists on the best movies ever, and the best actors ever, but I've always wondered historically what have been the best performances ever. Maybe talk about your opinions, and the general concensus opinion (if there even is any).

hmmmm. how about talking about 'the sound of music'? it's like a giant sugar sandwich, complete with julie andrews, children, perfect scenery, catchy tunes and nasty nazis getting their comuppance... alternately anything about musical theatre would be welcomed. best performances? roles? productions? feed me, i live in australia and the only thing showing here at the moment is 'the lion king'. ugh.

your most anticipated films of 2006 please... always love your opinion... keep up the good work

Well in light of Brokeback's loss, why not talk about the last great piece of queer cinema to lose out on the best picture award: The Crying Game.

Woody Allen: Revisit the love.

How to Love Natalie Wood in Five Easy Steps: 'Cause I know you love her, but I struggle, and I wonder where to go.

I would like a discussion of the more technical aspects of a movie. For example, how the editing can make or break a movie; what are the aspects to look for in a good-edited movie; which are the best (and worst) edited movies in your opinion, etc.

An anticipated 2006 list.

Do you have male straight friends? I mean, real friends - not the co-worker or next door neighbor. It's so funny how people can't see a straight and a gay being friends, talking, etc. There is always somebody who says: "Hey, he could be a nice person but you'd rather not to talk to him so much. That girl may think you're also gay". It just happened to somebody I know.
