Things I Learned On the Internet While Suffering From Spirit Crushing Insomnia Last Night

Scarlett Johansson is the prettiest -WWTDD
Malick makes cinephiles glad to be alive -Mainly Movies
The hottest new euphemism is "I prefer dating in Europe" -Defamer
Gretchen smells of Oscar buzz -popbytes
Manatees are (debatably) hip -You Can't Make This Up
Sundays = Supporting Actresses -StinkyLulu

and finally (sigh) yet another sign that Lindsay Lohan is still clueless about her talent and worth. Even after working with Meryl, Kevin, Lily, and Robert Altman for chrissakes (*double sigh*). Seriously. Why does this girl insist on comparing herself to wasted talents (Britney), striving to look just like lesser talents (any Z-Grade anorexic Hollywood blonde), or partying/ befriending no talent celebs (Paris, Wilmer et al). I love La Lohan but girl must have zero self esteeem. She shoulda just kept working at her acting and been a huge movie star her whole life when all of these flashes in the pan were entirely forgotten.

Gretchen Mol is one of those actresses whose name I know only because its unique and she was labelled the 'next big thing' like 6 years ago, I don't think I've ever seen her in anything.

Mol does seem like the type the Academy would like to honor: pretty young thing who takes on a real-life character and is struck with tragedy.

I have to agree about Lohan. She should have followed the path of Scarlett Johansson and continued making quality pictures, while going the route of product endorsement to get the quick dollar. Did you see that one of her upcoming films is directed by Emilio Estevez? She went from Robert Altman to Emilio Estevez. Hmm...

Was Mol the one in Rounders? Seem to remember enjoying her performance if so. An Oscar nom is not outside the realms of possibility, yet simultaneously spirit crushing.

I liked Gretchen Mol in the two movies I've seen her in (The Thirteenth Floor and Music From Another Room with Jude Law that NOBODY seems know even exists) and I absolutely love Mary Herron so I can't wait for The Notorious Bettie Paige - it was right up there in my 2006 anticapted movies list.

Seeing what happened to JOAN ALLEN this though has somewhat deflated my belief that she could get anywhere near an Academy Award nomination. If Joan Allen can't get it in a year like 2005 when there was an admitted lack of prospects, how can a girl like Gretchen?

The movie of Lohan's by Emilio Estevez actually sounds interesting. And the cast is pretty packed. Lindsay seems to be drifting towards ensemble movies.
