Rub It All Over

One of the funniest things my friend Nick ever said to me was when I once mentioned on the phone that I had just watched Robert Altman's Nashville. With total commitment he uttered this aside ...and I quote
I want to rub that movie all over me
I guffawed in surprise and then immediately thought "why yes" and then "save some for me". Slather that brilliant political animal and americana panorama all over me, too.

So... (you know where this is going) which movie do you want to rub all over yourself? Start rubbing in the comments.

Well, Moulin Rouge!, obviously.

Atonement. There is so much worthy of rubbing in that movie, it sort of hurts. And not just James!

Mulholland Drive. So much awesome going on in that movie, plus Naomi Watts is my number one girl crush. :-D

Any Wong Kar-Wai film. I could use a little of that sultry, nicotine-smelling neon shimmer.

Maybe 2046, since it's got Ziyi Zhang.

Right now--Vicky Cristina Barcelona. A double rub for Rebecca Hall.

I liked to be steeped in La Dolce Vita, but if it's all about rubbing? Rub me with Persona.

Goddammit. I love Altman, and have seen all I can get my grubby mitts on, but Nashville remains unavailable in the UK (unless you can afford to buy a multi-region player... which remains nought but a beautiful dream for me at this point).

As far as the question goes... I'd love to rub Terence Malick all over me. I can't even decide which film. Bits of all of them. Or ALL of all of them. As long as I can still fondle some Moulin Rouge with my big toe at the same time...

Another Altman film....McCabe & Mrs. Miller.

Branagh's Hamlet, for sure. It's just so decadent that it's the kind of film you'd love to just bathe in.

Monsoon Wedding.

Top Hat.

Top Hat is my standard default favorite movie, but tonight I'd rub Monsoon Wedding on my special parts.

Being John Malkovich. I'd rub it all over me all the time if I could.

Rebel Without a Cause followed closely by Mulholland Drive.

In the immortal words of Jurassic 5: High Fidelity, definitely.

Well, I suppose I've already answered, but also: The Piano (duh), Morvern Callar (duh), and Searching for Debra Winger (hee)

So glad I can keep you laughing years later!

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind - or maybe I want to rub that all over my brain?!

More literal possibilities:

Grease

Poison Ivy
Shampoo
Powder
Novocaine

Once Upon a Time in the West, Nashville, Chinatown, Laura, and I'd finish off with a trio of Citizen Kane, The Third Man, and Touch of Evil. Apparently I'm a bit of a movie slut.
