What movie reminds you most...

...of summertime?

(I know it's only April but we're having 80 degree weather in Manhattan)

Oddly so I am reminded of "Grease". Probably because I am desperately wanting deep inside to dance and sing in daylight without being drenched in sweat.

Last year's Oscar submission from Portugal, «Aquele Querido Mês de Agosto», is a very colourful picture of the Portuguese summer away from the big cities... :) as in my case.

Vicky Cristina Barcelona also comes to my mind because it's so recent and Portugal and Spain have both very beautiful beaches AND sight-seeing places.

You should visit someday :)

White Men Can't Jump actually. I watched it like 14 times on HBO last summer. I think it's a really underrated movie

When I think "movies" and "summer" movies that come to mind are ones that I saw during the summer. Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill (1 and 2) remind me of summer because last year at the very beginning of summer I saw all three of them for the first time and the season stil had this new, full-of-possibilities feeling. So it's like these movies were the beginning of my great summer. ooooh, what a good feeling. I need it to be summer now.

It's snowing here.

For film, probably The Incredibles. Or I Heart Huckabees.

Grease.

Because when it came out I was in summer camp (fat camp, in fact) and I am exactly the right age and all the girls knew all the music and we listened to it constantly all summer and eventually went to see it as a field trip (or whatever you call it when it's camp).

All Malick's films - The New World and Days of Heaven in particular - though real summers look almost never as gorgeous.

I also second Paul Outlaw's mention of Dog Day Afternoon.

Do the Right Thing, which has such a vivid heat wave. And Summer Stock, which is so underrated and is the movie that made my son become a dancer.

Ahem. It's officially 90-degree weather now in the city. Anyways...

BTW Nat, Today's LA Times (in the Calendar Section) has a great article about Margaret and the reason on why it's not getting released. Found it really interesting and it seems that they are going to court over it this summer.

Any of the Friday the 13th movies. This association may be the reason that summer is my least favorite season.

You write summer and I immediately think of Summertime with Katharine Hepburn. Why is it that Italy seems to be so associated with summer?
