She's especially wild around pouty french boys who are game for sexually deviant escapades. Long live Madame Huppert!

What movie is this?

it is Ma Mere starring Huppert and Louis Garrell since he's required to be in every single French movie :)

I think this is from Claire Denis' 'White Material'. I saw it at the San Francisco Film Festival. A beautiful and haunting film. It's really stayed with me.

Tyrant: It can't have stayed with you that much, since that image -- and that line -- isn't from the film. (Hint: the answer is above your comment.)

Seriously, though, so glad to hear other people love White Material. My favourite film of this year or last.

Agreed! Isabelle reigns supreme. I'm in the midst of curating my own private Huppert festival right now - there have been no disappointments so far. White Material is absolutely my pick of the year so far. I'm intensely excited by the news that Isabelle will shortly be working with Tilda Swinton on a new film about the Countess de Bathory - delicious! Though Delphine Seyrig is truly immortal in the same role in Daughters of Darkness. OMG - can't believe I got to post about Isabelle, Tilda and Delphine in the same breath - this thread has made my day!

7BIs is that really still happening. I feel like all of those Countess Bathory movies are doomed. i mean we didn't even get to see Delpy's recent version :(

Nathaniel, sssssh. Don't wake me up! It's happening!

There were a glut of postings back in June which suggested it was a-go-go but maybe not?? As long as it's status is "in preparation" I'm a willing believer. It gives me goosebumps just fantasizing about it...
