Quote of the Day

You've written a French film --you need an American director.
~Warren Beatty to the screenwriters of Bonnie & Clyde as told in Mark Harris's addictive tome Pictures at a Revolution: Five Movies and the Birth of New Hollywood. It's no surprise that it's a real page turner for Oscar fanatics. I can't read it fast enough.

I still can't help but think of what that film would have been like directed by Truffaut.

It's a great book! Just started reading it a few days ago. Mark Harris has done an amazing amount of research!
Now someone please write a book on the current state of Hollywood...

The 5 movies are:

Doctor Dolittle
Bonnie & Clyde
The Graduate
Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
In the Heat of the Night

All representing the diversity and confusion in Hollywood at that time.
