and the last line of dialogue "Kitty"

Can you guess the movie?

Highlight for the answer: That's right. It's Pixar's MONSTERS, INC (2001). Love that movie.

MONSTER'S INC. Oh how that last shot (which would give all away) warms my heart.

Dammit, this is the first one I knew! If only I checked my google reader every ten minutes... (but then I'd get no work done)

First movie that legitimately made me cry I think. So good.

My favorite from the Pixar franchise!

I second Michael B.'s comment. Monster's Inc is my pick for best of the Pixar bunch. Maybe my favorite animated film period.

One of the best endings ever in an animated film. I thought it wrapped up beautifully so I'm REALLY nervous about the sequel.

Yeah. Really mixed feelings about sequel. First one ended on such a perfect note that I dont see the need for a second. Though, I cant really say no to going back to that world with those characters. Of any movie I can think of, Monsters Inc is the most successful at making me feel like a child (in a good way).

I am not a fan of this movie. Monsters Inc? More like Monsters STINK.

Monster's Inc is by far my favorite Pixar-- grounded in (1) the realism of Goodman's Sully's blue-collar ethics, (2) Crystal's Mike Wazowski and Busciem's Randall's lowbrow expedient inanity, and (3) how they inadvertently cause the kind of corporate coup d'etate I daydream about.

From opening credits to the closing credit gag reel, year after year it improves with each viewing. (Nonetheless, I guessed one of the Toy Storys. Even when I KNOW it I'm wrong! My aged brain sux at this contest.)

By comparison, I love the first half of WALL-E, but when the webbles wobble in I usually tune out. Same thing after the first 20 minutes of Up.

Alex: One question: Which is better, Spirited Away or Shrek? Or put another way: Which of these three is best, Eraserhead, Blue Velvet or The Elephant Man?

Andrew R. said...

To answer Volvagia's question:

Spirited Away is the greatest animated film EVER. Shrek's good, not great.

Eraserhead vs Elephant Man vs Blue Velvet? Blue Velvet wins easily.

Ask me harder questions next time.

I used to think Spirited Away was the best of Miyazaki, until recently when I watched a half dozen and My Neighbor Totoro nudged it down a pedestal.

Alas, I'm slightly prejudiced by the resemblance between my daughters and Satsuki and Mei.

Of course Miyazaki begs the question, when is Pixar going to have a bona fide lady lead for Nathaniel to swoon over?

Brave looks promising. What could be awesomer would be if MI:2 continued to build on Boo!
