Love the Ladies

I'm assuming you've voted on the new poll. But there's more Best Actress mania if you're interested: Lots of details now on the category page. Reese is the tiniest. She's the only one that sings in her movie this year but she's not the only one with talents perfectly suited to a movie musical. Two of our competitors share a birthday. The Americans are outnumbered. Only one of the ladies seems to have a nomination lined up for next year. Etcetera.

Oh, and for the bitter Joan Allen fans... I whine a lot about that, too. Surprise [/sarcasm] Read all about it.

Nice stuff. And as much as I sorta knew it was coming, it still baffles me that Joan was snubbed. You're right about the fact that AMPAS voters weren't doing their job. She wasn't in a foreign film, or being involved in kinky sex or something offputting. She was JOAN ALLEN as an ALCOHOLIC with DRAMATIC scenes and HILARIOUS one-liners and... well, i could go on. But, then - not just shame on AMPAS, but shame on SAG, on HFPA, etc. Sigh.

which one would you say has a nomination lined up next year? Theron? Dench? what am I missing?

Dench. she's the only one with a baity role that's arriving next year. the others don't have anything lined up. or at least anything Oscary that will arrive for sure.

I'd say Theron will have early buzz for her Ice At The Bottom Of The World movie, or whatever it's called. Plus, directed by Kimberley Pierce, so...

nice read, but there are more African nominees: Omar Sharif, Janet Suzman, Basil Rathbone, Cecil Kellaway...
