From Weir to Cohen: The Olympic "Ice Princess" Relay

So Johnny Weir takes some pinup photos and no one tells me? Cruel. Previous Johnny Weir love at the Film Experience here. I don't even care that he didn't win a medal. In fact...

[Olympic Rant] I would like to publicly express my support for all the Olympians that didn't win anything. I think it's beyond rude and unfortunate how the press covers the Olympics. Whenever someone makes a tiny or a large error there is much gnashing of teeth and "what a failure!" Even when US athletes win silver they act like the person's family back home should hang their heads in shame, maybe move to a new neighborhood. "But they failed to win Gold". I'm like "[ahem] excuse me. These people are the best in the world at what they do! Medal or no medal I think we should all be impressed." [/Olympic Rant]

But anyway now that the men's skating is over at the Olympics, I have to leave Johnny behind for the only other one Ice Princess I care about: Sasha Cohen. Crossing my fingers for her tomorrow night in the short program. But even if she mysteriously bombs, she's still my favorite. See how that works?

Respect.

Wait, Nathaniel, is he out of the closet?

as far as I know yes...

his website is like a laundry list of all things gay --it's really quite an incredible achievement to love everything gay, like one giant fusion of stereotype: Margaret Cho, Madonna, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, America's Next Top Model, The Velvet Goldmine, Sarah Jessica Parker, etcetera, etcetera, if it's a gay obsession, he sings its praises on his site.

i hope you're all clicking over there. It's awesome.

Ugh Sasha Cohen UGH. Possibly my least favorite athlete of any sport.

I love Johnny and Sasha--I was sad that Johnny didn't win anything, and I'm rooting for sasha.

I also love Evan Lysacek--the first time i saw him skate, I was struck by his resemblence to Mr. Jake Gyllenhaal himself, and it's only grown over the years--and so has his skating.

Best part? he's from my area, and I'm a skater too--the skating community is really small, so...his old coach is friends with mine.

And I don't believe he's technically out yet--he is gay, but as far as I'm aware, only one openly gay skater has ever won the US National Title (Rudy Galindo). Homophobia is rampant in this sport, even still.

GO SASAH!

lily ---yeah. i love skaters. I can't skate at all. I practically end up in the hospital when I try (no joke. last time about 9 years ago I fell on my head merely trying to turn around) evan lysacek really won me over in the long program so i'll be watching him too.

i wanted him to medal he was so great that night.

Yeah, Johnny Weir isn't "officially" -- though I believe his official position on the matter is akin to "Come on, what do you think?" Which is an attitude I adore, and part of the reason he's so awesome to me.

Oh, and Sasha Cohen showed up on Project Runway this year, so she's totally cool with me.

Ack. make that "Johnny Weir isn't 'officially' OUT ..."

You understand.

Weir is definitely gay -- come on, Johnny, who are we trying to kid here? -- but I don't get the hotness the rest of you are talking about. He looks like an anorexic girl. And in interviews, he seems like just another bitchy queen.

I know this has been said a gazillion times, but she looks so much like Thora Birch (especially in that picture)
