To Danny Boyle and Slumdog Millionaire:

(via Cartel)
Go on and lose it,
Go on and lose it all,
Go on and lose it,
Go on and lose it all!

Kate to Oscar :
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.
You'd be like Heaven to touch.
I wanna hold you so much.
At long last love has arrived
And I thank God I'm alive.
You're just too good to be true.
Can't take my eyes off you.

I love her, she should get like 5 oscars, now.

I'd sing 'Maybe This Time' from Cabaret to Kate.

"Well maybe I`m just thinking that the rooms are all on fire, every time that you walk in the room......."

to Meryl Streep. Self-explanatory....I love her!

The last time I saw Richard [Jenkins] was the Kodak in 09,
And he told me all nominees meet the same fate someday
Cynical and drunk and boring someone in some dark cafe...

Maybe we could get a chorus of underage boys to sing Panzerlied or Deutschland Uber Alles to Kate? Love that woman, HATE that movie.

To Amy Adams:

I've been really tryin , baby
Tryin to hold back these feelings for so long
And if you feel, like I feel baby
Come on, oh come on,

Let's get it on

To Kate Winslet...

This is the moment,
This is the time,
When the momentum and the moment
Are in rhyme!

Give me this moment -
This precious chance -
I'll gather up my past
And make some sense at last!

To Angelina Jolie

Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna show me how
Give it to me, yeah
No one's gonna stop me now

The entire duet version (me doing both parts) of "Paradise By The Dashboard Lights."

but for whom, James? For whom?

I can't believe no one's mentioned my first impulse -- "At last" for Ms. Winslet. But, then, I wouldn't want to piss off Etta James like Beyonce and the Prez apparently did. So, maybe scratch that.

My first instincet was to sing to Brad Pitt:
"But your power shone,
brighter than any I've known.
I'm under your spell,
nothing I can do,
you just took my soul with you, you worked your charm so well
Finally I knew, everything i dreamed was true you made me BELIEEEEEVE!" but i figure he must hear some variation of that everyday so I'm gonna choose his co-star TARAJI P. HENSON and give her some love:
"It doesn't matter what they say
I know I'm gonna love you any old way
What can I do, without you?
Don't want nobody nobody
Baby, it's you, baby it's you
Baby (and repeat),
Don't leave me alone...whooa
Baby it's you, baby it's you"
I pick TARAJI just cuz I feel bad that no one is foreseeing her winning the Oscar this year and I would want to try and make her feel special... just like DJay did.

To Harvey Milk's Sean Penn...

«I fought the law» by The Clash

I fought the law
And... The law won :D

Jorge Rodrigues said...

Or for Anne Hathaway...

«I'll be waiting» by Lenny Kravitz :D

Jorge Rodrigues said...

To Heath Ledger... «This is the last time» by Keane

(Sadly...)

To Meryl Streep... «Forever Young» by Youth Group

(When will the 16th come?)

To Slumdog Millionaire... «The Winner Takes it All» by Abba

(Sadly for me this seems to be true)

To Kate Winslet... «In My Place» by Coldplay...

"Yeah, how long must you wait for him?
Yeah, how long must you pay for him?
Yeah, how long must you wait for him? "

(I believe she has waited long enough... :D)

And to the Academy in general...
The chorus from «Same mistake» by James Blunt...

«I'm not calling for a second chance
I'm screaming at the top of my voice
Give me reason but don't give me choice
Cos I'll just make THE SAME MISTAKE AGAIN»

(Not recognising Wall-E and TDK and Rachel and choosing Frost/Nixon and Benjamin Button...)

Well... I got carried away ;) You can tell I like singing :D

@ Ben: Even if the children are there? That's just coldhearted.

In any case, I'd pick an American Idol song and sing it to Kate Winslet.

I'd sing that song which starts "With some--one like you...", I think its called Let the rest of the world go by? I'd sing it to Karen Blixen herself. Oh, it would be so romantic!

A tribute to Meryl Streep

"Im every woman. It's all in me!"

I'll sing "At last", to whoever beats Streep. Etta james doesn't scare me!"

Guess I would do "In the Gloaming" by Jonatha Brookes from The Story for Health Ledger, if I really had a choice.

To Heath

And I'm here to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away...

Guy Lodge said...

To return to my embarrassing high-school-era passion for the band James:

"What an actor, what a show
Going through some holy motions...
I know what I'm here for
Hanging on through late December
I know what I'm here for..."

To be honest, it could pertain to any number of nominees, but I'll sing it to Marisa Tomei because, well, I love her.

To Kate Winslet (if she loses):

Now that it's raining more than ever
Know that we'll still have each other
You can stand under my um-bar-ella
You can stand under my um-bar-ella-ella-ella-eh-eh-eh

To Meryl Steep:

We're still having fun and you're still the one!

To Brangelina:

How did you get here?
Nobody's supposed to be here!

To Heath Ledger:

Memories, like the corners of my mind
Misty watered colored memories
Of the way we were :'-(

Oh yeah, In the Gloaming goes like this:

In the gloaming, oh my darling,
when the lights are soft and low
and the quiet shadows falling
softly come and softly go
Where the trees are sobbing faintly
with a gentle unknown woe
Will you think of me and love me
as you did once long ago

In the gloaming, oh my darling,
think not bitterly of me
though I passed away in silence
left you lonely set you free
for my heart was tossed with longing
what had been could never be
it was best to leave you thus dear
best for you and best for me

This song gives me chills every time I hear it.

Since your question does not limit the choices to this year's nominees...

To Marlee Matlin - "Amazing Grace".

Because no one should ever have to listen to me sing.
