A Socialite's Life something is very wrong with Lara Flynn Boyle's face. And not in the way that something is wrong with Nicolas Cage's face.

The Reeler rounds up the best of the New Directors/New Films series here in NY

Evening Class interviews the director of Sockets a new queer horror film hitting DVD that's got obvious Cronenberg influences
ScreenDaily talks to George Clooney about Leatherheads and Burn After Reading. I'm so happy that George is doing comedy. I think that's his true gift.
Moviehole Jason Biggs taking over as Spidey? Um...
This Distracted Globe on Blade Runner. I don't know what it is but every time I chance upon a review of Blade Runner I read it. I probably don't wanna know how many reviews of this movie I've read.

GreenCine Daily rounds up the blogs paying homage to Bette Davis as we approach her centennial (April 5th). You know. I think the first time you see a true star has a lot of impact on how you respond to their whole career. It took me a really long time to get over my early images of Bette Davis. When I was a wee kid you would sometimes see her on TV and she was this weird ancient chain-smoking lady... the first movie I saw her in was Return to Witch Mountain (1978) --I was really into those Witch Mountain movies. So when I started watching her movies, I went backwards. Whatever Happened to Baby Jane, All About Eve. But I'm still not as well versed in classic Davis as I should be and whenever I see something really old like Three on a Match or especially Jezebel or Now Voyager I'm just thrilled to be looking at her. Can't pry my eyes away. Must see more. Soon.

That Bangkok Dangerous trailer is ridiculous. Plus, the original is awful, so there ya go...

That's Lara Flynn Boyle!?!? Oh lord.

She just looks like some generic botox-bot. Which I guess is the point. But I literally don't recognize her here.

But at least she no longer looks thin enough to keel over and die at any moment.

It's so sad when once admirable and lauded stars like Boyle and Cage just completely lose their marbles. Not to mention SCARY. Like, if it happened to them, it could happen to any of us. I don't even wanna think about that...

I think George's true gift is looking sexy. Who needs acting talent.

As a little kid, I remember being totally freaked out by Bette Davis in Whatever Happened To Baby Jane. She was so evil!

Yes, Clooney is good at comedy (O'Brother, where are thou ?) but he can also do drama, he was understated in Good Night and Good luck and appropriately oscarable in Syriana, and Lots of people thought he was the best actor this year after Day-Lewis. Sure he can also be blah.. (Batman and Robin, The Good German, Ocean's eleven...) but I have a good felling with Burn after reading. I mean, the Cohen Bros + Clooney, Pitt, Malkovich, McDormand AND Tilda ?

The U.S. Postal Service has been issuing the Legends of Hollywood series for over 13 years now (Marilyn Monroe was the first). Bette Davis hasn't gotten her stamp yet and I've been pissed for about 8 years now!

I've never been one for laughing at silly sexual sounding words. But I think the perfect ending to that trailer was having "movie trailer guy" say "Bangkok"

I think the Jason Biggs thing has to be an April Fool's joke. I mean, it has to be, right?

i think clooney's is hopelss in drama he was okay in m/clayton but one smirk more and i would've slapped him,he alwys seems to play himself,no change in voice, body language etc,i just think he is way way overrated helll at least tom hanks proved himself whats clooney stretched himsefl doing - nothing comes to mind,he is so bloody smug with pitt, damon & roberts like it's a special club and were not invited, what about proper comedy actors like steve matin not getting there due, just becuase he takes on a couple of crams does not make him great plus he only win in 05 'cos he had to win somewhere and supp actor was the only palce even though others desered it more jake and paul u were royally robbed for a medioce perf.

comedy is his gift simply due to the smirk.

adam k.,
when was Boyle lauded and admirable ? I don't think she ever got the chance to show her skills.

Boyle was big with stuff like Twin Peaks, Red Rock West, Threesome...
