Robert Pattison On Twilight's Opening Gross

'69! Does this mean I have to stare at Kristen Stewart for the next 7 years? How many books are there again?'

I would love to stare at Kristen Stewart for the next 7 years!

Though, I wouldn't blame either of the leads for making that face knowing that soon they'll need to decide on if they'll sign on for the next three pictures (if they haven't already).

See, I think K-Stew is ok b/c she's already done drama, comedy, thriller, romance... she's versatile. But R-Patt has only done Twilight, Harry Potter, and some British TV stuff that Americans probably haven't seen. I mean, he's British, so he's probably well-versed, but will American casting agents care? Will he be Edward in their eyes forever???

Yep... I think that's why he's making that face.

$69 is very good, but it's not what people were predicting after the first day. Note the HUGE drop from friday to saturday, and saturday to sunday. I think the reviews are hurting it's gross. It could've made $100 million if it'd been any good.

That said, this was like a $35 million movie, so if it's looking at a $120-$150 million domestic gross, there will definitely be sequels.

I agree with Fox. Robert could ask me to stand in with that staring duty any time.

I am REALLY sick of hearing about this...film, no matter how oblivious you are of this, it still manages to seep into your consciousness. If its going to go on for 7 years I may consider hibernation.

I'm wondering whether this franchise will really hurt his career. Before this he was well regarded as a very promising young actor who was dubbed by the British media as the 'next' Jude Law.

Check out his performance in the Haunted Airman and then watch him in The Bad Mother's Handbook. I'm sure his fangirls have put clips of them in youtube somewhere.

i met kristen stewart 2 weeks ago at her mall appearance in virginia. she smelled - B.O. unbathed / greasy hair. very laisse faire...not really interested in doing interviews, etc..

Fox,

I'm not sure if Rob Pattison will be known as Edward forever. Sure, Daniel Radcliffe will be tagged as the Harry Potter but even Radcliffe is getting raves for branching out to greater, acclaimed works. If he can do it then I'm sure Pattison (who IMHO is a better actor) will be able to shake off a 4-film franchise branding.

Now, will he perform naked on the stage as well? :) Because I'm sure many of us will stare at HIM for the 7 years.

REally? :P

CAn't recall having read a single article mentioning such comparisons...

He has been mostly invisible until now, is what I'd say.

Sam Riley, Jamie Bell, and others like them have had much more buzz.

The Evening Standard ran an article about Pattinson quoting him as the 'next Jude Law' as their main headline. This was quite some time ago after his performance in Harry Potter.

Jimmy on Kristen Stewart:

she was "very laisse faire"...

She's into free market economics? Dude, that's a turn on in my book!!

And greasy hair and B.O. are ok by me... you guys may barf at what I'm about to say, but I've always had a thing for pretty girls with stinky feet. It has to do with the thought of something beautiful being complimented by something foul. You know, like an imperfection? Like Jewel's tooth or Trent Reznor's penis size.

Peter -

I think you're right. And reading the few interviews with him that I have, he seems to be grounded.

I'd like to see him branch out post-Twilight, b/c I agree that he seems like a fine actor. I know Twilight may not be popular around here, but I thought he was good in it.

Naked? Well... there IS eventually a love scene in this series, yes? But then again, they gotta keep it PG 13.

I did that for Nathaniel at the Australia preview the other night but he was horrified and had his people take me away. :(

Puberty has been very kind to both Pattinson and Stewart. Pattinson looked like Keira Knightley during his Potter days. Now he looks perfectly edible. Yum!

Well, if he's the "next" Jude Law, he need to do it in Broadway.

I don't see the film and I don't fucking care, but I saw "How to be" and yes, Pattinson has potential, but he needs to be smart and not fall in the Hollywood game a la orlando Bloom

He comes across as a big film fan and already spoke about not wanting to add more 'sh!t to the pile.'
