Alice's Wonderlink

Playbill the cast of Broadway's Addams Family musical adaptation is announced. Bebe Neuwirth is such a great choice for Morticia. Not happy about Gomez.
Cinematical Hedy Lamarr by way of Rachel Weisz?
Esquire First official (rave) review of The Road. Apparently they've added voiceover since I saw it.
Bad and Ugly Iron Man 2 @ Randy's Donuts
If Charlie Parker... the statuesque Julie Newmar

Pink is the New Blog Megan Fox on the High School Musical franchise. If Megan Fox were half as interesting onscreen as she is in sound bites I would be a major fan. ......Sadly, she's not.
Pixar see the latest UP -isode in beautiful quicktime. People with irrational love of chocolate (I am one of said people) will particularly enjoy. I have this weird thing with Pixar movies in that I'm never excited before they arrive but then I'm thrilled to be watching them once they do.

And finally I don't know whether to praise or diss Underwire for pointing to this trippy image generating site YoooouuuTuuube and this clip "Alice" which is all kinds of cool if you're into the general hallucinatory potential of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. You can plug other YouTube clips in too, so naturally I had to try my girls Madonna, Michelle, and Nicole. Basically this is the latest way to waste hours (literally) of your life on the internet.

My roommate and I figured it would either be Lane or Lithgow. And now we can't stop doing Addams Family lines in a John Lithgow voice. Tee-hee.

I felt soooo dissoriented after watching that Alice in Wonderland video! And seeing multiple Michelles (I totally was watching TFBB earlier!) and Nicoles pretty much fried my brain to the point where their beauty is now permanently burned into my vision (not that they weren't already partially mind you)

Nathaniel R asks for Sophia Loren movie recommendations. Wow. As a Neapolitan Italian woman and a memoir writer, I use Sophia as my muse more often than Virginia Woolf. I cut high school to see her in Marriage Italian Style with her male Italian counterpart, Marcello Mastroianni. I cut school again to see them in Divorce Italian Style. (By that time so were my parents.) In A Special Day, she seduces Marcello who plays a gay man. In Two Women she goes against her sexy beauty image and that role won her an Academy Award. And to offset that drama, Houseboat with Cary Grant who is a Dad with a little boy living on a houseboat and about to marry an uptight, rich blond. I love the theme song which she sings, Presto, presto do your very besto!

This is a bit off topic, but I wanted to let you know that Julianne Moore plays the wife in "Chloe". Julianne and Amanda are both on the poster.

Speaking of Amanda Seyfried, isn't she working with some great actresses? First Meryl Streep, then Julianne Moore, Next, Annette Bening and Vanessa Redgrave.

With you on the Lane casting. I personally can't stand listening to Megan Fox and hope she stays in only Michael Bay movies since I tend to hate all of those anyway.

She's so obviously faux-gelina. All "edgy" and ink-stained and provocatively s(ubt)ex(t)ual. Angie could eat her for breakfast though.

FYI: Bright Star has secured US distribution.

Geraldine -- thanks for the Sophia recommend. I am revamping my queue to include some before NINE rolls around.

seeking amy -- isn't it hypnotic?

Walter -- i would've preferred Lithgow for that role :(

DJ - wheeeee. thx

I can't make use of that Youuuu Tuuuube thing too often what with epilepsy (have to avoid strobe lights too, which can make concerts a nightmare for me) but Nicole's new Schwepp's commercial works brilliantly with this thing, as the commercial is all about pretty surfaces and makes no sense to begin with.

"Come what may" ? - not so much. It only made me long to pull out my DVD, which surprised me (maybe I should've tried the Can-Can sequence/Zidler's rap.)

BTW Nat, I understand the reaction to Nathan Lane re: Addams Family, but have you ever looked at the original Charles Addams cartoons, rather than the TV series or movies? The husband (I'm pretty sure the characters did not have names until the TV show) is short, runty, odd-looking fellow with a round head, not the handsome lothario of TV and film. Casting Lane brings the character closer to the original conception, I think. At least, that's what I'm guessing they were going for.

I'm guessing they're going for box office. ;)

but he just tends to overpower shows and i want my Bebe to have room to shine.

wow, Nicole's Chanel commercial works perfectly with that yooooooouuuutube link. It shows how perfectly shot it was, and really showcases Baz's grandiose vision and....

whoops. i see Ewan McGregor on TV. (Regis and Kelly)

hmmm. you know i've never seen a pic of him and Nicole together since around the time of Moulin Rouge

This has nothing to do with links, but I just saw the trailer for the stoning of soraya M. Do you think Shohreh Aghdashloo has a chance at nomination?

Correction: Sophia did not appear with Marcello in Divorce Italian Style. It was, Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. I skipped school to see that one too.

Those are gorgeous pictures of Julie Newmar (those legs!) and Rachel Weisz (see why she might be Ava Lord.)

Re: Addams Family Musical - I thought Gomez was supposed to be able to pull off romantic ardour and tension with Morticia. I guess they're going for a more comedic approach. Is this Krysta Rodriguez new to the Broadway scene? I hope she doesn't disgrace the Ricci.
